Takin' it one day at a time
Jan. 15, 2008
I decided in January that I would begin reading the bible at the beginning and read it through this year. I bought a bible from a friend who owns a Christan Book store. I bought a brand new highlighter. Another friend gave me a beautifully decorated journal. I was probably more excited about getting ready than actually reading.
God has, in just 15 days, revealed himself in a great and mighty way to me. I look forward to it, anticipate it, talk about it with my family and friends. I pray that God will help me stay encouraged and excited about reading. But it is also raising some questions that I didn't anticipate.
Who was Cain's wife? Who were her parents? Did God create other people during Adam and Eve's time that we don't have a written account of?
At what point did it become wrong to marry many women and have children with them and their maidservants?
These things don't shake the foundation of my faith, but they do make me wonder? But they also make me realize that God never intended for me to understand everything. I heard someone say once "If God was small enough for me to understand he wouldn't be big enough for me to worship"
