So the other day I posted about a wonderful breakfast treat that can be prepared in only five minutes, left to rise over night, and then simply popped in the oven for a quick and delicious breakfast. Here it is:
Monkey Bread
20 unbaked frozen dinner rolls (Rhodes is a brand I have used; Bridgeport is also good)
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup instant vanilla pudding mix
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter, melted
Lightly grease a 10 inch bundt cake pan. Place frozen rolls into the pan and sprinkle with brown sugar, the pudding mix, and cinnamon. Pour melted butter over the top. If you don't have a bundt pan, you can use a muffin tin, but they turn out better in a bundt pan.
Cover with a clean, damp cloth and leave overnight at room temperature to rise.
In the morning, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Bake rolls for 25 minutes, until golden brown.
Turn rolls out onto a serving plate and dig in!
I got this recipe from FlyLady's website last year, and it was immediately turned into a family favorite! We now celebrate each holiday with this wonderful cinnamon bread, leading Mo Chroi, Piper, and Jigger to declare all sorts of days holidays, or to at least try to, lol!!
I hope you enjoy it!!

Nov. 25, 2006 - Thanks for posting this!
Unfortunatly, we don't get frozen bread dough/bread rolls here in England, and we don't get Vanilla pudding either!! I'll have to play with it and see if I can do something with homemade bread dough and find something to substitute for the pudding mix. I'll work on that one! Thanks anyway - it does sound yummy! Maybe we can make it at my Mom's while we are their for this Christmas sometime. I have this problem often with yummy sounding recipes that people tell me about, I just can't get certain ingredients over here! I do better if they are the more labor intensive, from scratch recipes. The 'quick and easy' ones usually use some prepackaged item that we can't get! I do bring over a few ingredients for some dishes I can't live without! :-) But I just can't bring everything! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This sounds easy and scrumptious! I have to try this soon! I'll let you know how it turns out!

One of my college friends used to make this. He instantly became the hit on campus! Now, I try to make most of my own bread. Our Thanksgiving morning favorite is Cranberry Cream Cheese muffins. The batter is prepared the night before and then we just drop it in the muffin tins and pop it in the oven. It makes rising early to tend the bird much more inticing. Unfortunately, the friend who gave me the recipe asked me not to share it.

Oh my goodness...I am so excited to try this--you have no idea! When I was a kid, my best friend who lived next door to us, her mom used to make Monkey Bread ALL the time. I loved it. I've been thinking of looking for a recipe--and just happened to see this one. I'm making it for breakfast tommorow! Thanks so much!
