I remember being 13~ the whole world is your playground and anything is possible, because You Are An Adult. You can do anything, and exploring the world and all it entails is right at the top of your list! Piper is just beginning to explore the world, and mo Chroi and I are trying our level best to show him how to go after your dreams and make them reality. He is such a wonderful young man, and his father and I couldn't be any prouder of him. He was our first baby; the only person who could've made our little twosome a family. He is such a delightful contrast of mo Chroi and I, with a smattering of grandparents and an uncle thrown in for good measure, yet he is wonderfully unique.
So, here's to my baby, my first-born, my teacher and guide through this crazy, wonderful mess called motherhood. Happy Birthday, baby, and may the next 13 bring you all that you can imagine, and even some you can't. We love you!!
Happy Birthday to Piper! I hope he enjoyed his special day. You are right, the firstborn does teach us. We make our first discoveries and mistakes on these forgiving babies, thank goodness they love us anyway!
Thank you for your wise words on my post about fear. My husband would say (and has said) "Buck up and get through it!" He actually said this when I was whining during my first pregnancy! But I digress ... You are right, it is a choice. I am stronger at times, lately I am not. There's been a lot of stress around here this month (illness and other stuff) and it leaves me feeling really feeble. I hate that! I used to be so bold. I can't stand myself when I'm like this. Ugh! Thanks for your prayers. Grateful to you and others who commented on my blog. It's good to have the opinion of other moms/wives/women! About NZCate: I emailed her yesterday but she hasn't responded. Makes me sad when someone I like disappears like that. If she contacts me, I'll let you know. And, no, I didn't find your comments harsh. Just honest! And I like that. Thanks, friend!
...called Parenting Teens! It is a rollercoaster, that's for sure. I remember at some point when my oldest was 13, thinking that 13 actually was not nearly as difficult an age as 11 had been! Rather pleasant, in fact. (But then he hit 14 & 15... oh my.) Just be glad you still have a few more years before he is 17-approaching-18; that is a tough time for a momma, let me tell you. Now my oldest is almost NOT a teen anymore, but my 3rd will be there before I know it. *Sigh* They grow up too fast. Savor each year!
