Happiest at Home...

Apr. 10, 2007
Huh.

Posted in The Daily Grind

Here's a little known and useless fact about me:  I notice vehicles.  Manufacturers, models, makes, colors, options, you name it, I see it.  It's completely and totally useless, but it's a sickness habit of mine, so there you have it.

Okay, so I'm barrelling driving down the freeway today, and what should I see but a Mercedes Benz in front of me.  As I pass it, I do a double take when I see that it is a STATION WAGON.

What's the point in that???

I am so happy to have found your blog!
DH's ancestors are from Scotland. We've learned so much about his heritage! He participates in the Highland Games. We spent Good Friday (also National Tartan Day) downtown where we got to raise St. Andrew's flag. DH was a bit chilly in his kilt, but the kids enjoyed it. DH is learning the bagpipes by way of the chanter right now. Our desire is to have our DD6 learn Scottish dance, but since there don't seem to be any instructors nearby we plan on having her learn Irish dance.

God bless!

The point is this: It's a hobby! It's your own personal way of resting your brain by doing something you enjoy and that doesn't take any work to do. Does that make sense? My pointless habit (among many, I'm sure) is the way I listen to music. I try to figure out what instrument is playing when, which singer is singing which part, etc. I make myself crazy sometimes but it's something I do out of habit and I enjoy it. Just drive safely and enjoy your hobby! I wanted to comment on your last post, as well. I agree wholeheartedly! My problem is that I don't seem to be very good at being a SAHM. It's frustrating so I get discouraged and think, "gosh, if I was working somewhere, I'd know what to do." I was not raised to be a mom, I was raised to work. However, I know I'm right where God wants me to be, so I'm doing my best and trying to raise my daughter to enjoy being a Mom so she'll not have the same issues that I have. Thanks for your post - it was great! Enjoy your weekend.

You saw a station wagon? Since the advent of the minivan, it seems that the once-exalted station wagon has gone the way of the 8-track tape. (OK, maybe not THAT bad-- how about the way of the cassette tape? Endangered but not yet extinct.) Mercedes or not, a station wagon sighting is getting to be a rare event.

*sigh* Brings back memories of childhood cars... the big blue Torino wagon... the slick little Volare wagon... and fighting over who got to sit in the way back...
