Gone, but not Forgotten...

Posted in Miscellaneous

It's officially been six months since my last post.  I know, because Bethany over at 40winkzzz told me so.  I have shamefully neglected my blog, and in doing so, have horribly neglected you, my friends.  I apologize profusely.  Due to personal issues, I haven't even kept up with you all.  I don't even know what's going on with any of you.  Well, little dribs and drabs here and there.  Because lately, I've been getting nosy, and missing you all.  So, I've been poking around.  Taking it easy.  Not really even sure if I was going to blog again, but missing you all.  And then, I got such a genuinely sweet note from Kate, and she gently encouraged me to post.  Anything.  So I thought to myself, it's time.  Et voila, here I am.  Happy to see you, and hopefully happy being seen.  Because after six months, who am I kidding?  You all have far more consistent friends to visit.

I will say that one reason I stepped away was because I was overwhelmed with comments.  Now, I know, every blogger wants comments, and wants to feel the love.  I'm no different.  But taking the time away from home and hearth to read dozens of blogs on a regular basis so that I can return-comment took it's toll.  And, instead of just coming up with a solution, I took an unscheduled break.  Well, I have found a solution, and would encourage everyone to use it if they so desire.  When comments are made, I will lovingly respond on the same post on my blog.  Any comments I make bopping around to visit you all will be independent of your comments, and made purely for the joy of making them.  I expect no return-comment from you; to do so puts pressure where none should exist.  I simply enjoying catching up with you all when I can, and that's all I want from you:  to just enjoy the friendship.

So, now that I'm back, and I've gotten the difficult "first post" out of the way, I promise to try to do better.  Be more consistent.  Catch up with you all (Congratulations, Alyssa, on your expected blessing!!!).  And enjoy renewing the friendships I probably didn't value enough.

May God Bless you all tonight.

Good to hear from you! And I'm glad you decided to post again. I know what you mean about returning comments - I'm unsure what the etiquette is but I guess one can do whatever one wants. I like your idea, it makes more sense. It does take time to visit everyone to return comments especially with a slow computer like mine. I have several friends I don't visit much at all because it takes so long to load their site.

Looking forward to your next post - whenever that may be (no pressure!)

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Shani! My Shani! How so very nice to get a visit from YOU tonight! I've thought about you frequently and wondered how you've been! I've missed you! I'm glad you decided to start posting again.

I have a hard time keeping up with comments too & I love your idea! I actually did that this last time I'd been gone for a few weeks and I think I may have to continue with that. I'm constantly checking my friends' page just for the fun of it & I enjoy catching up with everyone that way. :)

Anyway, just wanted to say HI and I'm glad you're back! I look forward to reading more from you! HUGS my FRIEND! :)

Love, Alyssa

Nice to hear from you again. And please don't worry about commenting on my comments. I dont' feel people have to return my comments, I just leave them because I want to say hi. And I don't often remember to check back in the comment section of a previous comment to see if someone has commented in return! LOL! That is something I simply don't have time to do. Just nice to see you again! No pressure!

May. 8, 2008 - Hey there!

Posted by 40winkzzz

Wow! If I'd known that all it would take to get you back was to comment on your blog and say I miss you, I'd have done it MONTHS ago! I just figured that blogging was some "fat" you'd cut out for a while in favor of focusing on Real Life, and wanted to respect your space. You don't need to apologize for neglect. Much as I appreciate my bloggy friends, I need to constantly remind myself that it is the people around me who are (or *should* be) most important, and that if blogging is causing me to slough off on *those* relationships, my priorities are askew. So I kinda figured- esp considering past "conversations" we've had- that you were simply shifting priorities, which is not a bad thing.

Having said that, I'm glad you're back!!! Hope to read more here. Thanks to your long-ago tip about /friends page, it is easier to keep up with my friends, and I check back to their own pages every so often as well-- esp when I haven't heard from them for a while. (I was checking back here at least once a month, probably more.)

PS- re "comment ettiquette"-- when someone new comments on my blog, I make it a point to go say hello within the next few days. (OK, sometimes it's a week...) But when I get comments from "friends" and others with whom I've built up somewhat of a bloggy relationship, I don't feel the need to go comment on their blog just bc they commented on mine, and that seems to go both ways. With those people, "commenting happens"- I read their blogs regularly, they read mine (I hope), and sooner or later they'll write a post I want to comment on, and so I do. I guess it's that "just enjoy the friendship" thing you mentioned.
