Tightwad Tuesday

Posted in Tightwad Tuesdays

Tightwad Tuesday is graciously sponsored by Mary, over at Canadagirl.

Frugality is such a challenging and fun mountain to conquer.  Each little step that we take brings us closer to our goal of saving a little more money.  Within the past year, I have begun to make my own packets of seasonings for many dishes, which I will share with you in the upcoming weeks.  Today's seasoning packet is Stir Fry Seasoning Mix, which is timely considering that we are having Stir Fry for dinner tonight.

Stir Fry Seasoning Mix

1/4 cup chicken buillion

3 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons dried minced onion

2 tablespoons instant garlic, minced

2 teaspoons dried parsley

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

In a small bowl, stir all ingredients until blended.  Store in an airtight container in a cool place.

To use, I simply place 1- 1 1/2 tablespoons of mix in about 1/4 cup of water, mix well, and pour over veggies.  You could mix with sherry, though, or any other number of liquids.  We add soy sauce individually at the table, so each can adjust their meal to their own tastes.

This is wonderful. I was just thinking about making stir fry today and this will save me the trouble of having to buy a package of mix.
BTW, my husband was miserable. He is very fair skinned and didn't believe me when I told him how badly he would burn without sunscreen. He is a believer in sunscreen now. : )

This is really neat! I've already copied it into my household notebook in the recipe section. I can't wait to make a stir fry next week now!

That makes me want to make stir fry. I like the idea of making your own seasoning mixes. Usually I just grab the packets at the store. It's got to be cheaper to make them yourself.

Jun. 24, 2008 - I LOVE mixes!

Thanks for this mix recipe. I've recently started making my own mixes, and I love how they taste and how much money I save.

I've never really made stir fry before, but I'll have to give it a try with your mix.
