Conversation with a 10 Year Old...
Posted in The Daily Grind

In an attempt to ascertain why Jigger has been avoiding practicing dance, the following conversation took place:
Mom: If you don't practice, you won't get better. If you don't get better, you won't move up.
Jigger (pouting): I know. But maybe I will get better.
Mom: Without practicing?
Jigger (defiantly): Yeah.
Mom (snort): Really? How?
Jigger: I don't know. Maybe there are 1 or 2 ways I could get better.
Mom: Yeah? Name them.
Jigger (in all seriousness): I don't know. The first is a miracle, the second is maybe I practice.
Mom (dissolved into laughter)

Is Jigger your oldest? My older child always has a reasoning for everything. It's scary.

Scarily enough, he is NOT the oldest, but the youngest.... I'm very afraid for the upcoming teen years, LOL!

Sounds logical to me!... sort of. So he's a pretty smart kid. Basically he's admitted that it would take a miracle for him to get better w/o practicing.

I can totally relate however, as when I was in high school no less I decided that it wasn't necessary to study for an upcoming geometry test as SOMEBODY had invented these proofs in the past and, hey, I'll just figure it out myself on the actual test. Needless to say this was not a shining academic moment.
