Feb. 27, 2008 - Mount Rushmore

Hi! I just finished a book about Mount Rushmore. It is a historical monument in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It’s a memorial to 4 presidents. They are Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and Roosevelt. It took 14 years. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum made models in clay and then in a mixture of plaster of Paris and wood shavings. He made the real ones out of the mountain with drills and dynamite. Although the work was dangerous, not a single life was lost.
