About Me

I like to talk. In fact I don't even mind talking to myself. Sometimes that is the only way I can get someone to listen to me.

Tomorrow's Earth Day - April 22nd

Posted in General Talking

I've been surfing around tonight looking at many wonderful sites and blogs and came upon one that has inspired me to do something more than my usual.  I've never been a big recycler.  I used to recycle when the town made it easy but I have moved and this town does not have curbside pickup so not only do I throw everything away, but I have to pay for it too.    There is no recycling service from the trash company.

Now and then though I find a way to do something good for the earth.  I reuse lots of paper and plastic bags and stopped buying the newspaper years ago.  I get a certain magazine for a few years, keep all the copies then stop the subscription and just reuse the old mags.  So just now I found some more great ideas from Ginny at Proverbs 22:6 Academy.  Cloth napkins!  I love them but rarely use them because I have so few.  I don't know why I never thought to make my own.  What in the world we do without other friendly bloggers?

Now as a sort of spin off from that I remembered that my sister always uses silk hankies because they are softer on her skin.  Now I can't afford to go out and buy silk hankies but for the amount of paper tissues I have gone through this winter, I think it would certainly be a savings to our earth to make some of those silk ones up.  The best part is that I just happen to have a few worn out silk blouses from the 80's that I was ready to get rid of.  I am going to pull those babies out and make them into lots of silk hankies.  If I get enough I may even give a few to my dear sister for her birthday.
