Tuna

Quote of the day: “It’s not how hard you can hit, it is how hard you can get hit, and still keep going.” -Rocky

Groan of the day: Knock Knock, who’s there, tuna, tuna who?: You can tune a piano, but you can’t tuna fish!

Two things I wanna talk about: History, and my favorite fictional character.

“There are always good things to look back on and always good things to look forward to. The present is far too short a time to matter.”

I wanna talk about history cuz today is the last history class of the semester. Hopefully by the time you read this I will have passed the final…lets all hope hard :)

I have always loved history. Not dates and stupid names or original documents—I like the stories in history.  It is almost like I can live as many lives as I want just by reading and imagining what it was like to be a person long dead. What is sometimes even more interesting is that we can laugh at, and learn from, infinite mistakes and triumphs.

What amazes me is that so many ppl are dead. Just dead and gone—no matter how many horses they had shot from under them, no matter how many years they lived—they are dead. I mean, 900 years is a long time to live for it to just one day be over. Sorta helps put things in perspective for me sometimes. I’m not the first one to try living life, and I certainly won’t be the last.

Yeah so that is my tribute to the subject of my past major—now  go look up King Tut in the encyclopedia or something.

As of yesterday I have now watched all 6 Rocky movies. For those that lead excessively sheltered lives, the Rocky movies are about a boxer that, um, boxes. Yeah.

Rocky is an amazing character. A little slow, but full of heart. All six movies are great, and good for at least the older half of your family. The Christian one is #6 and just came out about a year ago. But in all the movies Rocky’s faith is evident and moral values are key. Warning…it may make you want to be a boxer. This is especially scary if you were formerly a semi-peaceful homeschool mom :D

I have never watched any of the Rocky movies. Never really wanted to because I think that boxing is dumb. Now you're going to come and kill me for saying that...but I just don't get why people enjoy watching people hit each other!! I dunno, maybe I'm just weird...lol!

I liked the latest one best. But that's cause my husband and I are old and I love the spunk of the old guy. =P
And this is another semi-peaceful hs mom who gets a little worked up, too. =/

I've never seen Rocky, but I like the theme. lol ;-) I listen to it whenever I want to feel aggressive.

I know what you mean about history. It's so amazing to think that BILLIONS of people have lived on this earth and died. It makes you feel tiny and insignificant. But it's also cool to think that someday, we'll be part of history, and probably the only people who will ever know our names are our great-grandchildren in fleeting reference...yeah, anways.

I LOVE your new avatar. Well, I guess it's not necessarily new, but...you know...altered. =D

Oh, BTW, you know, they say that since the beginning of the 20th century, more people have died than in the 6000 years.

I totally agree with you. I never liked the idea of memorizing dates and names. Most of the time when I have a test and it asks when something happened I have no clue, because I was just enjoying the story. I could tell you what happened but not when. I just don't pay attention to that stuff, but I probably should for future reference.

I think the last one I saw was the one with Apollo Creed in it. Then Stallone started making Rambo movies and that was pretty much it for Rocky, imo.

Anyway, whenever I think of Rocky, it makes me want to yell, "Adrienne!!!"
