Groan of the day: Why do elephants paint their finger nails pink? To hide in cherry trees.
Please excuse any vivid images of elephant perched in cherry trees that I may have conjured up.
And I’m still losing in the Homeschool Blog Awards so if you haven’t already, go vote for me!
Yesterday I got the first Christmas card I’ve ever gotten in my life. I had just went on a joking triad about how no one had ever given me one…then next time I sat at my desk a hand made card stood there saying:
Happy Chrismas Christopher Love Caralyn
From my amazing 8-year old sister.
Also, yesterday cerealkiller was inducted into the Chris Blog Hall of Fame for giving me my 7000th comment! Crossview was also inducted as the newest honorary member. The Hall now looks like this:

Now If you have not read the amazing quote in yesterday’s entry, please go do that. The words express what I’ve tried to tell ppl many times. The words may seem like something out of a good sermon, but no. They are the lyrics to a song called “The Sound Of Truth” by a sweet little band known as As I Lay Dying:
gThey were one of a few artists of faith to be nominated this week for a Grammy award. An As I Lay Dying song was one of five metal songs in the nation to be nominated for best metal performance. Christians in-a-band Mute Math got nominated for best music video for their song “Typical”, and The Fold’s album “Secrets Make You Sick” was nominated for best cover art. And lastly, the Christian homeschooled rockers Paramore were nominated for best new artist.
Kanye West, who went to school an hour from where I did, got the most nominations this year.

And since this blog is about me and music, for those interested I’ll break down some of the big award nominations. I have taken the liberty of changing the confusing award titles into layman’s terms:
Best Song:
Irreplaceable, Beyoncé
This is a solid song, that has wide appeal thanks to its R&B pop flavor. Doesn’t break down any doors…and it wont win, but good song none the less.
The Pretender, Foo Fighters
This is the biggest rock song in all of chart history. Very original, very gripping, and it has the vagueness in the lyrics that I like so much. Critically the best rock song of 2007—best song over all? I don’t think so. It wont win, hard rock songs never do.
Umbrella, Rihanna Featuring Jay-Z
It already took home an MTV award for this category, can it do it at the Grammys? It is my personal fave, from the Jay-Z build up, to the soaring hook and simple yet powerful lyrics. It is my personal fave on the list and just might win. Can I get an ella-ella?
What Goes Around…Comes Around, Justin Timberlake
Most played artist of 2007—for good reason. This song is simply ingenious and perhaps even more catchy and original than “Umbrella”. But yet it falls off little short in the lyrics and it has that repetition factor…
Rehab, Amy Winehouse
I hate this song. So stupid, why bring back old school soul? Why do you think it is old school?! Cuz ppl got tired of it. Plus, really, who likes the words? Go to rehab Amy for Pete’s sake.
Christian Rock/Rap Album:
Before The Daylight's Shot, Ashley Cleveland
Ok, who let her in here?
HIStory: Our Place In His Story,The Cross Movement
Sorry…my Christian rap listening only goes so far. Haven’t heard this one.
Open Book, Da' T.R.U.T.H.
Amazing single from this CD, but see above as to why I haven’t heard the whole disc. Plus the fact remains, rap albums never win this award.
The Reckoning, Pillar
Can’t win, and the nominators must have been on crack. Possibly the worst and most clichéd rock album I’ve ever heard.
Comatose, Skillet
A winner hands down.
Christian Pop Album:
The Altar And The Door, Casting Crowns
I’ll give it to them, they put out a good third album. Just might win too.
A Deeper Level, Israel And New Breed
If I wanted to listen to gospel music like this, I’d prob also want to stick my head in an empty fish barrel and sing “My Country Tis’ Of Thee”.
True Beauty, Mandisa
She’s my girl! Albums suck though from what I hear.
Stand, Michael W. Smith
He always shows up. Look for his forthcoming released titled: “I’m not dead yet, give me a Grammy Nomination”
Portable Sounds, TobyMac
Now we’re talking. Certainly the best CD in 2007 in my eyes. I hope it wins.
