About Me

I'm a 12 year old girl that LOVES GOD! I see so many fan blogs for Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Jonas Brothers, so why shouldn't God have a fansite too? He's the real deal. On this blog we will talk about God, and every now and then, I'll post Bible studies. If you have any prayer requests, and you would like to be prayed for, then you could comment me or message me. You can say if you would like it to be posted on my blog, or if you would like to keep it private. I hope you enjoy this blog!

Loving God

Secular stuff

Hey Christ Lovers!

I've been thinking a lot lately about random things. Like... secular music. What's the point with it? I mean, people swear, they sing innapropriate lyrics. Why do they? Do they think it makes them look cool? Well, what's so cool about it? Swearing: When you swear, it only shows that you don't have a very big vocabulary. So when you swear, it doesn't make you look cool or smart. It only shows how stupid and un-smart you really are! Why would they think it makes them look cool? Like say, Ashley Tisdale. So many young kids have seen the High School Musical movies, and look up to her. Now look at her! She's too scared to swear in her music, so she replaces swear words with words that she still shouldn't say, but she doesn't think it's as bad. And look at the way she's dressing now? The more that kids see these things in the people that they look up to, the more they become it. So many famous people started out on Disney Channel, and turned into just a big mess. People such as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Linsay Lohan. A couple of them have been caught drunk driving, been going into rehab, and so many other things! And these are people that kids look up to. Even though I'm a kid, I don't. I recently had an experiance with that. The Plain White T's was definately one of my favorite bands. THEN, I checked out their CD at the library and guess what? Swearing, and lots of, well... you know what I mean. I feel like they let me down. It's not right. Like that really popular song, "Our Time Now" that they do. The lyrics aren't innapropriate, but have you seen the video???? I don't know why these celebritys think that doing this kind of stuff makes them cool, when it actually doesn't. Like this thing with Will Smith. Apparently, he was swearing in his rap lyrics. His Grandma didn't like it, so she just told him that swearing doesn't make him look smart or cool. It only shows how unsmart he is. Ever since that, he hasn't sworn in any of his songs... at least that's what I heard. Anyway, I want to know what you think of the music industry. What do you think it's coming down to? And how will it effect young children and teens? I don't think it's going to be very pretty.

This is a very good post! You are very observant and have good judgment. We don't allow our sons to listen to the modern songs and we only watch videos on tv, not regular programming. They are aware of the more modern shows on tv, but so far they don't have any desire to watch them. But then, they are only 8 and 11, and have the same morals as we do. We pray that they will make good judgments (like you) as they get older. :-)

Feb. 16, 2008 - Great Thoughts

Posted by hugabunchmom

It is nice in Christian music when we can spend time worshipping our Creator. And you are right, I never really thought about secular music and what the purpose actually is for it???? What a sad existence to not have a true purpose in life. I love music, and am so thrilled to use it for praising my heavenly Father. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I don't know where the secular music world is headed, except downward, but perhaps more Christians will take a lead and begin reaching more for Christ. It is bright people like you who will make a difference, a light in the darkness!

Feb. 26, 2008 - WOW

I praise the Lord that He has opened your eyes to so much destruction that the music industry has over children. Not many "Kids" get it. I do not know how old you are, so ask your parents first, but I think you would love a documentary titled "They Sold their soul to Rock and roll". It is put together by a pastor and it is all about the music industries plan. My God keep your eyes open, you are on the right path to stay away, keep sharing this with others it is huge. Also I let my children watch High School Musical and was trying to decide what I thought about it for them. Ever since it came out it is all they watch and sing. Seemed harmless, but you have made me think again. Any more info you could give me on this would be helpful. I am unaware of anything outside the video because we do not have cable TV in our house. Are there things I should know about HSM to help make a decision?
Thanks for a great post full of wisdom!

I agree with you that swearing in songs and stuff is bad but not all non-christian musicians do it i'm a christian but I like a lot of songs and bands that are not. I don't listen to bad stuff of course but some of the non-christian bands are way better musicians than some of the christian bands of course the same thing goes the other way around. But anyway my point is I agree with you and I don't like all those bad songs but not all secular music is like that.

Feb. 28, 2008 - the music

Posted by fairybookworm

I agree!!!!!!!! When you turn on the radio in the car, it's VERY hard to find an appropriate station to listen to. Most of the music nowadays is just love songs. There is a station that you have probably heard of or listened to- WBFJ. I thought that it was a great channel at first, but then I found that not all of the songs are really meant to praise God! What kind of music do you usually listen to?

You tell it girl. I glad to know there are young people out there that know what the music industry is all about. Thank you and bless you for being one of the smart ones.

I'm glad to know that you agree with me because I was hoping I didn't offend you. That's so awesome that you like the Seahawks also! They rock!

P.S.
I also like the Fray,
what other bands do you like?

I never thought of Christian Rap as a way to reach out to people who like to listen to rap... well, everyone has different opinions about music.

I'm so sorry I haven't been around in such a long time... I've been SUPER busy!

That was a very good and insightful post! I don't listen to 'modern' music for those very reasons. Movie and TV stars aren't setting good examples for children of this day and age. I listen to hymns, and things that glorify God and don't bring Him down. Of course, there are songs that glorify Him that are still 'rock & roll' and 'modern'. Like the Newsboys. They sing rock and roll, but about God instead of worldy stuff.

what is the piont of Secular music?
I don't know and I really don't care what the piont is because it's not worth listening to!
christian music is much better but everyonce-in-a-while I do enjoy a clean country song,
Like "stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Whicks:
it talks about a guy going to the girls father to ask permission to marry her! when was the last time you heard about somthing like that?
so yes I don't understand secular music but there are some good songs out there.

Hi,
I sooo totaly agree with you!!! I've also been thinking why people do these things, even when they know they are bad and harmful to their bodies!!! I just finished reading this great book called "So Much More". It is for girls 14 and up (but it is good for anyone to read) and talks about turning towards your fathers and home and just how is the RIGHT way to live. It's a great book! Oh, and Go Grandma Smith! LOL! Thanks for posting those things!

Have a GREAT day!
