Creating a Love for Lifelong Learning

May. 28, 2008 - Next Week's "Unplugged Project" ~ PAINT

I am looking forward to getting back to the "unplugged projects". Esp. since we now have a tv. You'd think that after a year of not having one, it would be easy to be disciplined. Nope. Quite the opposite. It's too easy to use. But that doesn't mean I don't want to try to be more disciplined. :) I don't think tv, in moderation, is bad. I think, just like adults, kids just need a break to do something that doesn't require much stamina. Not saying that before television this wasn't available. It certainly was. We just need to find the right activities I suppose. Things that are "mellow" and for "winding down". I guess there is never a good excuse to use tv, but like I said, I think in moderation, it is not terrible. When I talk of "tv", I mean dvd's. I actually don't let my children watch what is on the local stations. I think, even if the program is OK, the commercials stink. That's enough to turn me off to allowing anything on a local channel. Even if it's not "adult content", the advertising geared towards children, in my opinion, just breeds selfishness, greediness and discontentment. They don't need anymore help with that, ya know?

Ok, well, off my soapbox! I have lots to do today and just wanted to let ya'll know, incase you're interesed, what next weeks unplugged project is!

Visit Unplug Your Kids for more details on how you can be involved! It is REALLY EASY and FUN!
