Training Hearts At Home

Something I'm Considering...

Posted in Home and Family

I have a confession to make...

...I have not done a very good job training my children to keep their rooms clean.  And from the looks of our home right this minute, evidentally they haven't learned the importance of helping mom keep the rest of the house picked up either!

If the truth be known, while my mom did the very best job she could do raising me (which wasn't bad at all I must say), cleaning and keeping a home wasn't exactly an area that I was trained in nor had a very good example of while growing up.  So while I love a nice, clean, comfortable home, it's something that I really have to work at and push myself to do.  I don't want to pass on the same lack-of-training to my own children, so I know I have to begin by making changes in myself.

This is something I've seen a few times and am seriously considering purchasing, not only for the kids but for me too!  We have, and LOVE, Times Tales and this product, Zone Cleaning for Kids and Laundry Basket Cleaning was created by the same wonderful people.  Because of how great Times Tales is, I'm thinking that their Clean & Flip charts would be a great blessing to our family.

Check it out, and if anyone has used this and has an opinion on it, please leave me a comment here and tell me what you think!

I too have a very hard time with this. I have three children (15,13,9) and we are all just terrible at cleaning house. My most desire is to make our house a home and someplace my dh enjoys walking into. Unfortunately, I just haven't accomplished that just yet.
I have made chore charts and the children know what they are to do but for some reason I just haven't gotten them to do it completely! They do a half job and well days of half jobs lead to MESSES.
I am going to continue to try and have made this my ultimate goal so my prayers are with you as you encounter the same task. Good Luck friend.

I think we are going to try accountable kids (www.accountablekids.com), is this similar to the clean and flip thing?

In any case, I hope you get the kids/chores thing under control, and that I do, too!

I'll check back! Take care and blessings!

This looks really neat. If you get it will you let me know how it works for you and your family? My kids are 4 1/2 and most days I feel so overwhelmed with the messes that they make. I start homeschooling in the fall and having this terrible messy house all the time concerns me on how I will ever teach them.

My email address is : eskimokisses@bellsouth.net

Thank you, Chelle
