July 2, 2006, Today was a typical Sunday as far as schedule goes. I still have Noah-age 7, and Cayley- age 2, MacDonald( 2 of my niece Catherine's children) to care for until Mommy comes home from Mayo Clinic. Our 2 younger Children Ben- age 12 and RuthAnn age 9 have just returned from a week at camp with Grandpa and Grandma Nightingale. They went to Word of Life campground in Schroon Lake , New York last week.
DH Dwight, preached this morning on the blessing of our forefathers both biblically and historically and the challenge to continue to live Godly lives in today's changing society. We need to be proud of our heritage here in America, but remember the blessing comes only when as a nation and as a church we follow the Lord in our daily lives. He ended with a call to serve the Lord each and every day, whether here or abroad.
Perry - age 21, our oldest son is helping to lead a group from Ada Bible Church on a teen missions outreach. They are going to the Niagara Falls area. I am unsure of their outreach plans, but he was excited to have the oppertunity to share as a counselor for the week.
WE had a ham and cheesy potatoes dinner today with green beans, corn, and cantaloupe. The cantaloupe was soo good. I love fresh veggies and fruit in the summer. After dinner dh and I layed down for a nap along with Cayley. She was worn out and so were we. It has been a long week and I will admit, that I am not used to 2 year olds either.
Sunday night service was low in attendance, which is typical for a holiday weekend. WE had an old fashioned hymn sing with favorites from the congregation and sharing from the church family of blessings. Dh shared a devotional about a battle in the old testament when Johnathon King Sauls son saw the challenge of defeating enemy before him and went forth even against great odds and the Lord won the battle of Michmash. He delivered this message more as a children's devotional and all eyes were glewed to him as he acted out the story and the victory the Lord gave Johnathon.
We came home and had a small snack at home and I discovered we were out of Milk, so RuthAnn and I went to Meijers gas station and picked up some milk. I bought her a McDonald's ice cream cone and we shared an Ice Tea on the way home. She is really growing up and I enjoy my time with her. When we came home Dwight had the other kids heading for bed and RuthAnn came in an went to bed too. We are all still quite tired from the week and a busy Sunday.
Pray that you had a blessed day and were challenged to Serve the Lord today in your world!.
