Just Got Back From Mississippi!
Good Morning Dearies!
We took a quick trip to South MS last week. Thought I would update all of you!
We had to postpone the mission trip because half of our team had the flu. We are working on details to get everything geared up for that trip, but we decided to go down, take some of the goodies, and take a look at the updated needs--everything is changing daily down there!
The area around Laurel is buzzing with clean-up. The sad part is that there is simply not enough good, reputable help to get everything done. The help that is there is charging astronomical prices. There is a great need for those who can do the roofing and repairs for NORMAL rates rather than gauging them.
The clean up is still going on. There are many who are just trying to go on (to get by from paycheck to paycheck) and cannot afford to get the repairs or clean-up done at all. There are countless homes that have big holes in their roofs and nothing to cover it up. Our parents got a call to let them know that the Army Corps of Engineers is now there (almost TWO MONTHS after the storm) to help cover roofs--but not to repair them! This will take some time to get everything to a "normal" state.
We took in some of the goodies that all of you sent to our offices. I cannot express how precious they were! Every single item has been very needed and very precious! You guys are SUPER!
One fun treat has been sharing the totes filled with goodies that have been sent in. Here are some pictures from Lyn Frei's Newsletter. She is from Titus 2 Ministries. They have been busy bees making the most ADORABLE totes for us to stuff and carry into the areas that we minister to during this time. I cannot express how much these are blessing these families. Look at how adorable they are:

Here is a note that we got after this weekend:
Hello! Yes, I was so sick but I am over it now,I think the medicine made it worse,lol... Anyway I got the tote full of goodies! Did you know what was in there? Did you go through it any? I am blessed! I LOVE the books and things that were in there. I have been reading in them already! Well did you know The Life Application Bible that was in there? Well it had a great affect on me! I love how it explains Everything! And the New Testament Study Bible, well I was flipping through the pages and found some peace and settlement with what I found. It was about order in a church (1 Corinthians 14:26-40), well this passage of scripture jumped out to me and it explained a lot. I love these kind of things! And the Charles Stanley book that has so much in it too. You can use it all the time as well as these other INSIGHTFUL Bibles! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou and thankyou for the wonderful gifts! Trent really enjoyed his also. I loved the phonics pamphlet, that is a great tool for speech. You didn't get sick did you? I hope not!
I love the cds' too. Basically I was Very HAPPY to receive such meaningful gifts!
P.S. Please write back. Thank you again!
What you guys have done has made a TREMENDOUS impact! You are meeting the very personal, spiritual, emotional needs that are often overlooked during tough times. This is where many of the hurricane victims in Laurel are at this time. The little things are a tremendous blessing at this time! They are all going to need for us to be IN THIS for the long-term. I love that so many of you are IN THIS for the long-haul! The needs will be surfacing over T-I-M-E. I love that the church is braced to help over that period of time that will help bring real healing!
We have some other plans for future trips. We are planning to go in again and hit the streets in the next few weeks. After that, I hope to plan a special trip to go in and take blessings for Christmas. The little children ADORE the HOPE IN A BOX KITS. I also have seen MUCH appreciation for the totes filled with Discipleship materials! Soooo, what I would love to do on the Christmas trip is take in more of the HOPE IN A BOX Kits and TOTES OF LOVE totes with Quiet Time Kits. If you have been wanting to be a part in this--whether going in or sending goodies, we certainly need your help! I will post more details as we get everything firmed up!
Until then, here is a link to Lyn's help with how to make the totes:
