Fitness Friday-The Olympics and Beyond

Here are my Olympic scores and standings.

Island Run (I hate running-just in case you can't tell) I came in last
of all the ladies that attempted it.

Penguin Slide-I tied for 5th-not bad!

forum and I didn't get credit for completing this. Oh well, I should have made
sure my entry posted and I didn't. This was my best score ever and would
have garnered me 3rd place and a bronze medal prize if it had posted.

Ski Jump-this score was a new house record. Yay me! It also earned me
2nd place in the Olympics and I received a cool Wii Fit tote bag from
Nintendo.
Had my soccer score been counted I would have come in 5th over all in the Olympics. Not bad if I do say so myself!
Since the Olympics I have had a crazy week that included 6 fast food meals, a plate of buffalo wings, Girl Scout Thin Mints and a Dairy Queen Oreo Blizzard cake. I am thankful I have only gained 1 pound after this week.
Today I broke my ski jump record again and scored 375m.
Tomorrow starts a new week and hopefully it will be healthier!

Fitness Friday-Week 6

Hi! Here we are again. Another Fitness Friday...with the same weight ticker because Mr Wii Fit says no weight loss but my clothes say "Going down." Anyway, here are the new records for the week. Today I hit a new high score on the 6 minute hula-hoop with 1997! I'm getting so close to 2000. I also reached #1 for the family and my personal best on basic step with 326.

Fitness Friday-Week 6
I exercised 3 times this week, twice on the Wii Fit. The third time was yesterday. Our homeschool high school small group did a scavenger hunt throughout Prime Outlets in Ellenton. I don't know how many acres the outlet mall covers but it does boast 125 stores. This was not a shopping experience it was a speed-walking hunt for clues. Parents were'nt allowed to help but we were supposed to monitor groups to make sure the teens weren't running or causing any problems. Since the clues were all spread out we speed-walked the entire mall 3-4 times during the one hour hunt. It was 83 degrees outside and I was sweating like crazy.
Map of the outlet mall
Our scavenger hunt team-and 3rd place winners- Lexi, Aaron, Jordan and Jonathan.I did reach some new personal best scores on the Wii Fit this week.
Yoga-half moon-93
Yoga-sun salutation-99 tied my personal best
Aerobics-basic step-307
Aerobics-6 minute hula hoop 1972 tied personal best
That is it for this week. I hope next week goes better, especially since I have a doctor's appointment Thursday afternoon.

Fitness Friday-Week 5
Right off the bat you can see I lost another pound, Yay me!! I could only do Wii Fit twice this week. Latst Saturday I deep cleaned part of my bedroom and during all the bending etc. my back started spasming. I spent 1 1/2 hours lying on the floor in the living room! It was sore and easily tweaked through Tuesday. Thursday when I was doing hula hoop it started getting sore again so when I was done I put heat on it again.
I set 2 new personal best scores this week. Palm Tree pose 88 and advanced step 631. My hula hoop score remains in the 1969-1972 range.
This week I plan to get back to exercising 4 times this week. I also bought a hot air popcorn popper. I recently did a review on my Mom Maven blog for a popcorn company and I found out that by switching to air popped popcorn from my microwave popcorn I can save 450 calories and 36 grams of fat! So that is my healthy eating change for this week. If you would like to read the popcorn review there is the link. The giveaway is over but there is some great information there, especially if you are a popcorn addict like me.

Fitness Friday-Week 4

I have done the 6 minute hula hoop every time I exercised this week. I thought my score patterns were rather funny. They at least show that I am consistent 1961, 1971, 1971 and 1972!
I only lost 0.4 pounds this week but I set some new personal Wii Fit records!
Chair Pose 84
Basic Step 306
Sun Salutation Pose 99
Side Leg Lift 80 (this was the 1st time I tried this exercise)
Warrior 100!!
Until next week, keep putting one foot infront of the other!

Fitness Friday-Week 3 Progress

Week 3 saw a little progress. I am down 1 pound. I exercised on the Wii Fit twice, Thursday and Friday-because I could hardly walk Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. On the Wii Fit I got a new personal best score on the chair pose 80. I also did the 6 minute hula-hoop for the first time-and I scored 4 stars with 1914! Wow-that is a tough one.
Now, an explanation about why I couldn't walk for 3 days. Saturday we took the youth to the Winter Jam concert at the USF Sun Dome. I didn't expect for this to be an exercise opportunity but it became one. Once we found our seats on the upper concourse (one flight of stairs) and got settled there was an announcement about a youth leaders meeting in the Green and Gold room. So I headed down (2 flights of stairs) met up with a bunch of other youth leaders at the corridor that leads to the meeting rooms. We were met by a security guard telling us we can't go that way because that is where the artists were dressing for the concert. He said we would have to either go around the outside of the building and come in the front (not an option because this was a pay-at-the-door event with no tickets and we would be charged again for admission) or try going to the upper level, where it should be less crowded to get through to the front of the building. So we quickly headed up (3 flights of stairs) to the upper level. It was very crowded up there-the concert was a sell out and they turned hundreds away at the door. By now I am panting and have been unable to keep up with the others I had met moments earlier. So, I headed back to my seat (1 flight of stairs). During the concert I had to leave twice to take kids to the bathroom (a total of 1 flight of stairs) and then when we left at the end of the concert there was that last flight of stairs. Nine flights of stairs!! I new I was going to be in trouble when I was standing in line for the restroom and my leg muscles were twitching like they had been through an intense workout.
Sunday morning when I woke up to go to church, I could hardly move. I was so stiff, my thighs and calfs were very, very tight. I chose to wear my new favorite shoes that hubby bought me for Christmas because they are super comfy-they are Sassari Crocs.
I did ok Sunday morning, though it hurt to go up and down the two steps to the stage. Monday and Tuesday were even worse, I think wearing the wedges to church made things worse. So, that is the long story as to my odd Saturday workout and why I couldn't workout during the beginning of the week.
I made some progress this week drinking water too. Yay Me!

Fitness Friday-Week 2 Baby Steps

Ok, by now you have probably noticed that my little scale on the ticker hasn't moved, well there is good news, I have lost the 1 pound that I put on last week so I am back to ground zero. Also, I went to the doctor's today and I have lost 5 pounds in the last month, all before January 1st. The PA who saw me today was pleased with my success so that helped me re-focus on the big picture.
I only used the Wii Fit 2x this week. Really, I'm going to get in at least 3 days next week. I did have some successes on the Wii Fit. I tied my best score on the Palm Tree pose, I scored my best score ever in advanced step, 621, I got a new high score on the chair pose and I finally completed the beginner Balance Bubble and got the highest score in the house! I will keep working and hopefully take another step forward next week.

Fitness Friday-Week 1 Slow Start

I didn't have a good week fitness wise. I'm not going to make excuses though. I just need to focus more and act! I only got on the Wii Fit 3 days for 30 minutes each and I didn't eat very healthy either. I am up 0.8 pounds. Oh Well.
This week was my first back on the Wii Fit in a few months. I focused on learning some new yoga moves. I added 4 to my work out.
Tree-scored 44, 69, 58
Sun Salutation-scored 97, 90, 88
Chair-scored 58, 68, 58
Standing Knee-scored 88, 72, 79
Not bad. The Chair is a killer, but I can feel it working!
The Wii Fit also has my Wii Fit age at 34, that's 10 years younger than me real age so I can be happy with that. I also reached a personal best on soccer heading, I scored 265 last Saturday. Today, I played again and I scored 360! A new personal best.
I thought I would share my Mii with you. This picture is of her in my house on Animal Crossings: City Folk. Isn't she cute? I hope you have a great week.

Fitness Friday-Starting Point
I have to start this post by saying that committing to this project publicly has been difficult for me. I have been overweight for the last 20 years. My weight has gone up and down. I have done Weight Watchers 3-4 different times, Beverly Hills Weightloss, Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, Carbohydrate Addicts diet and who knows what else. I've joined the YMCA, Shapes, Curves, Jazzercized and I own at least 20 exercise videos. I have now begun a medical program prescribed by my doctor. I must lose at least 6 pounds a month to remain on my program and I see him once a month to weigh in. My total weightloss goal is 62 pounds in 2009.
I started the diet portion of the program 2 weeks ago and even with Christmas and New Years I have lost 1 pound. Tomorrow I start the exercise part of my program. This part centers around my Wii Fit. I have had the Wii Fit for 6 months and originally I was on it a lot. I lost 8 pounds rather quickly and then I stopped using it regularly. My January Wii Fit goal is 1/2 hour 4 days a week.
Each Friday I will be writing a Fitness Friday post updating the good and the not so good parts of this journey. I have joined 2 fitness forums. I am going to check them both out during the month of January and then I will choose 1 to stay with for the rest of the year (I can't overcommit to online activities). I challenge you to join me in getting healthier in 2009.
