Vote for your favorite cover!

It's finally time for the Book 4, Andrea Carter and the San Francisco Smugglers, cover contest! I've received three (3) covers from my publisher, and you can vote for your favorite. Everyone who votes will be entered into a drawing to win an autographed copy of book 4--hot off the presses this fall, 2008. All you have to do is leave a comment telling me which cover is your favorite, along with an e-mail address or blog address (I have to be able to find you if you win the drawing).

Contest ends June 1.

In addition, please spread the word about the cover contest by posting a short entry about the contest and/or putting this graphic button on your sidebar. I've even supplied the HTML code. How easy is that? (or you can copy the graphic and use it in an entry with a link back to the contest).

OK, on to the covers:

Cover #1:

Cover #2:

Cover #3:

So, which one do you think would make the best cover? Here is the "back cover copy" (the stuff they write on the back cover to interest readers in the book):

“The levee broke! Water’s comin’ through!”

The muddy current rushed down the street and alongside the railroad embankment like a young Mississippi River. With a yelp, Cory snatched Andi’s hand and yanked.

“Hurry!”

When a winter flood submerges the streets of Fresno, the town has no choice but to close the school for repairs. Andi couldn’t be happier. She plans to spend her unexpected holiday out on the range with her palomino mare, Taffy. But Andi’s dreams are dashed when she’s sent to San Francisco—and doomed to spend the rest of the winter at Miss Whitaker’s Academy for Young Ladies.

Andi doesn’t know how she’ll endure two months of city life until she’s introduced to her new roommate—the untamable Jenny. She also meets Lin Mei, a small, mistreated servant-girl who works at the school. When Andi and Jenny discover a dreadful secret that endangers Lin Mei, they rush to her rescue, only to find themselves trapped in the dark alleys of Chinatown.

Can the girls outwit their captors and escape a terrible fate?

Back again, Joy votes for #1.

She had a hard decision between #3 and #1 but went with #1. I kept quiet. She wasn't sure about the little girl on the cover so I told her to scroll to read the back of the book explanation. Then she said, "Oooh! I know where that is." She recognized the mansion.

It looks like cover #1 has richer colors than cover #3. Cover #3 looks hazy.

3 is nice too, but if people look closely at that one, they can see that the horse is just a head with no body. So, #1 looks much better. Plus, I like how Andi is looking down at the little slave girl~ it looks like she's very concerned about her.
What fun! Thanks for doing another cover contest!

it would probabbly be easier if you used the Batgirl address, but it really doesn't matter.

May. 14, 2008 - Book Cover #2

Posted by Solomiyka
Hello :)
I pick #2 for the following reasons:

Reason no.1- It shows that Andrea is arriving at a new place, a new adventure; looking beyond.

Reason no.2- From the covers in the series it would be even.
The cover "Andrea Carter and the Long Ride Home" she's there alone, a new book, a new adventure. While in the next two books ("Dangerous Decision" and "Family Secret") have horses.

Reason no.3- In this adventure Andrea won't be able to take Taffy with her.

Reason no.4- The covers for "San Francisco Smugglers" #1 and #3 don't look very edited...no offence

That's all I guess :)
God Bless!

Hi,
I like #1, as it looks like they're interacting more with one another, instead of just put there. And there are more components from the story to distinguish it from others (yet to come!) You needn't enter me in the contest, as my daughter is a little old for the books now...I'm sure a younger gal would enjoy winning much more so.

Hi Susan. I liked the 2nd cover because the other two have the little girl who, at first appearance, doesn't have anything to do with the title of the story. All your other books just had Andi and Taffy on the cover and in my opinion, I think it should stay that way.
