I Hosted a House PARTEY...

Posted in Keeping House

Last Friday afternoon I hosted my first House Party!

I was chosen to host a ARM & HAMMER® Be Green: Save More. Waste Less.™ House Party!

I had so much fun doing this. Arm & Hammer sent me a HUGE box of stuff to give out. A total of 11 ladies came and we were able to sample the new product, play some Green games, and we even shared some cleaning tips with each other.

You can try Arm & Hammer Essentials for free if you fill out the form for this mail-in rebate offer. Print a coupon to Save $1 when you purchase this product! You should still get the full retail price back for the rebate!

Ponderings

Posted in Keeping House

So I'm sitting here tonight and thought I would jot some thoughts down.

Life is going along normally I suppose. We are staying REALLY busy with our homeschooling and my princesses are really showing their stuff when it comes to being able to step up to the plate of doing work for other people now. Yea! I am so proud of them.

I seem to be in a little battle with keeping my home. It's not overly dirty and dishes aren't stacked in the sink, but I haven't been able to keep up with my schedule of cleaning and things like that since we started school back up. I'm not a BIG schedule person, but I'm finding myself floundering around when it comes to menu planning and grocery shopping. It's REALLY getting on my nerves so I'm going to take some time this week to rearrange some things around here and try to get myself back into some kind of a routine of things. Life seems to work much better when it's a little organized.

On a side note.. I was watching the first couple minutes of 17 Kids and Counting tonight and they were asking Mrs. Dugger if she was setting up her girls for a life as a SAHM. Of course.. she being as sweet as she is, handled it very well, but as for me.. I was irritated.

Why is it a bad thing to encourage your daughters to be a Stay at Home Mom?

Our country is in a downward spiral away from God and I think one of the reasons why is because of issues like these.

Whooo eee.. I could go on and on and on with this one, but it's late and I'm not going to let myself.
But I do have this to say..
I NEVER for one minute, since God grabbed hold of my heart, have EVER regretted staying home with my girls! No one will EVER tell me or make me feel inferior because they work outside the home or have more education then me.
Staying at home with your children is not a LUXURY.. it's a choice and sometimes a sacrifice of not having things the neighbors do, but it's a choice I'm SO glad that God has allowed us to make. Don't EVER let anyone tell you that you are less of a person or that you haven't done anything worth while in life by staying at home!
God called me here.. It's a blessing, it's a honor, it's a sacrifice, and I wouldn't give up for anything in the world.

Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied); and her husband boasts of and praises her - Proverb 31:28 (AMP)

Ummm... Catching Up?

Posted in Keeping House

I can't think of a better title then that one, sorry.

My last couple posts have been about free stuff that I've gotten and I really haven't blogged about anything real interesting. I'll try to do that now, but I'm not sure it will be anymore exciting then free items and coupons.. LOL. ( Though, depending on who you are - those kind of things may really excite you.)

On the Homeschooling front, we've had a week off and have really enjoyed it. Our co-op schedule this year has us 8 weeks on and 1 week off. I don't think we will always take the whole week off, but it was needed this time around. After learning EVERYTHING about the Periodic Table in Chemistry and discussing Principles that our Founding Fathers formed on country on in Political Science, our brains needed a vacation.

On the Home front - We started working on our dining room. I took on a painting adventure of glazing, something I've never done. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Here is a before picture. It's not usually that messy and we had already pulled the furniture away from the wall when I remembered to do a before picture ( don't you hate it when you forget to do that!)

I still need to hang the drapes that I got , so it's not completely finished yet. But I'll go ahead and share a pre-after picture.

Excuse the ladder.. that's not a new addition to the room.

That's about level of exciting things going on here... LOL. If I ever get a drapery rode and hang the drapes, I'll take a more applicable picture to share.

Hope you have more excitement in your weekend than I've had this week.

It's Getting HOT Here.. Wallpaper Anyone?

Posted in Keeping House

We have been very spoiled over the last couple month with some BEAUTIFUL weather. And my DH, the outdoor, landscaping man that he is, has been busy doing all kinds of projects outside. Moving shrubs, planting new ones, finishing up the garden. But now the heat has set in and I'm ready to do some projects in the house ... with the A/C on!!

I haven't wallpapered a room in YEARS. But after seeing some of this Linda Barker wallpaper, I'm thinking I could find some walls to hang these on. Not only is this picture stunning, but there were some really great looking papers on this site. After looking around on this web page, my head is spinning with ideas. Look out Better Homes and Gardens.. my home is going to be looking good..

Works for Me Wednesday

Posted in Keeping House

I was just making some ice coffee and thought about this as something to share for Works for Me Wednesday.

What do you do with leftover coffee? Make coffee ice cubes.

I usually have a little coffee left in the morning, so I pour it into ice cube trays for future ice coffee drinks. It helps a lot, so you don't water a good ice coffee drink with regular water cubes. And if you use flavor coffee it makes it taste even yummier!
