The Classical Astronomy article The Astronomy of Easter made the list of Top 6 homeschool articles for 2006 at Crosswalk.com. This article originally appeared in the Classical Astronomy Update in 2003. The funny part is, this article was first run at Crosswalk that same year, and this past year's appearance was a "rerun." A more full and complete explanation of the astronomical, Biblical basis for finding the times of Passover and Easter is included in Signs & Seasons, our upcoming astronomy curriculum. More information will soon be available about this book. If you would like to be directly notified, please drop a line to jayfromcleveland@yahoo.com. 0 comments ... Post a Comment ... Link

If you're a regular subscriber of the Classical Astronomy Update, please be advised that the newsletter is currently in limbo since our last service turned out to be totally unreliable and we don't currently have a service for sending the email newsletter. However, we have a lead on a new newsletter service, and hopefully we'll be sending another Update in the near future.
If you would like to be added to the subscriber list, please drop an email to jayfromcleveland@yahoo.com. Thanks. 0 comments ... Post a Comment ... Link
Interview on Jesus Geek Podcast0 comments ... Link

I was interviewed last night on John Wilkerson's "Jesus Geek" podcast. John is a Christian homeschool dad who does this regular podcast on science, technology, the space program and all manner of other geeky subjects, covering the topics from a Christian point of view. As a long-time geek myself, I'm sure other homeschool dads would also enjoy John's program. In our interview, John and I discussed my various activities in astronomy education, including the Classical Astronomy Update and my current astronomy curriculum project. We also discussed what is meant by "Classical Astronomy" and my vision for sharing with Christian homeschoolers the lost secrets of this once-common field of science. If you ever wanted some background info on the Update, you might want to catch this interview. If you're not familiar with a "podcast," it is simply an MP3 audio file that can be downloaded and listened to over your computer, or listened to over an iPod. This particular interview is 20 megs, and downloaded in a few minutes over my DSL connection. We had a few technical difficulties so the sound quality isn't the greatest, but it's not too bad either. The podcast website is at: http://www.jesusgeek.info where you can listen
I'd encourage everyone to tune it and support the wonderful service this homeschool dad is providing to the homeschool community. 0 comments ... Post a Comment ... Link
