I know what you are thinking .... another History magazine?? Well, I bought this one because it is more for young adults and up. My husband was needing some good bathroom reading material anyway
!!

History Magazine was advertised in the back of Learning Through History one month and so I sent away for their FREE trial issue and I really liked what I saw. In the issue that I received, there was an offer to purchase ALL of the back issues for only $10/set! Well, you know I love a good bargain so I immediately went online and placed my order for these bundled magazines (that's what I received in the picture for my $50 - what a bargain!). To view a listing of ALL of the topics covered in the past five years, go to this link or this link to view the list in a table.
Now, I haven't subscribed to the magazine yet because I think I'm going to wait to see if they offer a bundled set at the end of each publication year. I'd rather have that than loose copies on my shelf - they sit better that way!
Each issue contains about 15 different articles. All of the articles in each issue tend to deal with subjects of a specific time period. For example, I have in my hand the first bind-up volume containing the magazines from October 99-Sept 00. One of the issues has Life And Death on the Oregon Trail as the "main theme" for the magazine. Articles in this issue are about the 1820s, the Suez Canal, handcart pioneers, horse-drawn carriages, etc. (NOTE: There are also articles on contraception and midwifery in this particular issue- these types of articles are NOT common, but it is the reason that I put this magazine for "young adults and up." Parents will probably want to preview the magazine when it arrives). The articles are full of period drawings, illustrations and photographs that really add to the discussion at hand. I like to read through these magazines before going to bed and I look to see if there are articles that will add to our history studies whenever we change topics.
I may have to get myself a subscription afterall so that I can have all of this wonderful information on hand whenever we need it!
