Homeschool Artist Showcase
Every year, local school districts display student art work at our local libraries. We thought, "Why not have a public art show for local homeschoolers?"
That is exactly what we are doing!
And we would like you to join us! It's free!
Sand Creek Library, a branch of Pikes Peak Library District, has given us the entire month of November to display the art work and creativity of the local homeschooling community.
And they are hosting an opening reception. And the show will be juried! Ribbons will be awarded, plus there will be a Peoples Choice Award. Doesn't this sound like fun?
The show will open on November 1st and run through the 30th. Art that was created by you or your children in the last two years, is eligible to be in the Homeschool Artist Showcase.*
Sand Creek located at 1821 South Academy Blvd.
Why are we doing this?
"For the last two years, my kids and I have entered the creative arts competition at the El Paso County Fair. We have had a wonderful time creating, preparing and entering our art projects. The experience and reward of seeing our work on display, and the joy of getting ribbons has created memories we will never forget. The folks at Sand Creek Library said it’s time to have a Homeschool Art Show right here!
We are hoping that this first "Homeschool Artist Showcase" will whet your appetites for art creation and competition and also help you prepare for next year's fair! This year there were over 700 entries in the creative arts and cooking competition at the fair, but we were told that in years past it was not uncommon to have 2500 entries.
Here is a chance for you to "practice" for the next County Fair or just join us and have fun displaying your creativity. Homeschoolers in the El Paso County and immediate area are welcome to participate in the Homeschool Artist Showcase” ~ Mrs. Nancy Baetz, Homeschool Artist Showcase Coordinator**
