Notes from the Laundry Pile

Jan. 18, 2007 - Comfy Weirdness
Posted in 5-pocket Jeans

I've been tagged.

It's rather strange typing that as I was never good at tag. Now playing "Spud" with a Koosh - I was good at that. The game juggled its way over from "Juggling Paynes'"homefront.

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the ‘7 weird things about you.’ So - Wanna play?

This is kind of funny - I'm considered weird - but only by those that love and know me really well. I'm not sure what the rest of the world would consider weird. Maybe they consider me weird, too, they just don't know and love me well enough to tell me so. Maybe I should ask my brother - he's always telling me I'm weird. Here's his chance to tell me why.

How does one qualify one's own weirdness? My brother came up with quirks. Do those count?? I don't think so - they fall more into the pet peeve category...

1) I learned how to talk, primarily, in Tennessee. Memphis to be exact. Maybe it was because that's where I learned to read phonetically. Anyway - when I get around someone with a strong southern accent - or sometimes even an English accent - I revert back. I spent a weekend at a Beth Moore conference and with 2 people with strong accents. It took me DAYS to get back to "Normal".

2) I like puns. Really. But they have to be good puns. bad puns are just groaners.

3) I like cartoons. I like "The Tick" (Spoon!), Batman: The Animated Series, Animaniacs (I got a DVD Collection for my birthday) (Narf!!) -- they are the best!! (J-man thinks they're monkies....)

I saw a copy of "Darkwing Duck" (Keen Gear!) and had to physically restrain myself. I'm rather fond of the new "Curious George" and "The Replacements" oh - and "Jane and the Dragon". I like cartoons.

4) I'm easily distracted.. oooo shiney!!

5) I'm easily amused - which is why I'm rather surprised that I can't think of anything to fill this list. I'm my best own  material.

Okay - to copy the Juggler's weirdness --

6) My drink of choice is "Diet caffeine free Dr. pepper" A lot of people consider that weird. They want to know "Why drink it at all?" -- "For the Caramel color, of course!!"

 7) I've read most of the "perry Mason" novels and, contrary to popular opinion, find Raymond Burr a bad fit for the role.

That's all I can come up with. My hubby doesn't think there's anything weird about me....AWWWWwwwwwww that just warms my heart. :-)

So whaddya think? How weird am I?

I really enjoy reading these "weird" posts. I just finished reading jugglingpayne's too. I would love to hear what either one of your accents sound like. Sometimes I wonder whether my blogging friends would notice my Aussie accent too.
I think Curious George is a sweetie too, for a cartoon monkey. Did you ask your kids about your weirdnesses as well as your hubby?
God bless,
Paula

I love your list. Not very weird, but I like you for your cartoon choices. (I have The Tick and Darkwing on DVD, and I love Jane and the Dragon. Ever seen Beakman's World? You'd love that too. Good for science. Incidentally, I kept wondering where I'd heard "keen gear." It was starting to drive me insane not remembering. Thanks for reminding me of Goslyn.
If you like puns, you would so enjoy our house. The puns abound. There's daddy (Reed Payne), son (Chase Payne--dh picked his name, I'm not responsible) and of course, getting married turned me into C. R. Payne.
When we first moved to this area, our phone number was an old window replacement company and for years we would get calls from people with window problems, even on our answering machine. Why? Because they heard the word Payne and figured the number was correct.

Cristina

Jan. 19, 2007 - Not very weird?

It's so difficult thinking up the weird things about you. You think they're normal things - Weird is a matter of perception.

For instance - I like peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. Why didn't I think of that for my "list of weird"? because I don't consider it weird!!

So maybe this just means - I'm not weird - just loveable. :-)

I Absolutely Love the Winter pictures! Remind me why I live so far south..hee,hee. But where did you come up with the squirt gun idea??? I know they had a blast and will remember it for the next time! We lived in Ohio for 13 yrs but I never once thought of such a fun thing. My kids could jump out their window into the snow and disappear as we always had like 2-3 feet of snow most of the time...oh yea and I was going to tag you but you have already been had...ttyl

I agree, it was a power struggle, which was why my gut told me not to give in on the lollipop. I also think it's possible she's getting genuinely hungry after dancing for almost an hour, so next week I'm going to try giving her a healthy snack right before class with the promise of a lollipop after (IF she behaves). I think the younger ones tend to usurp power through their more peaceable older siblings. She can usually get her way with them, so then it's harder for her to adjust in a class situation.
Thanks for your support. I'm glad I have friends to lean on. This is new to me (the other two were more easily embarrassed in public, so they behaved to avoid drawing attention. I guess I now have an exhibitionist.)
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina

About Me
There are four kids here in the laundry pile, often times, playing king of the hill. Which amuses me - because I am the supreme high ruler of this laundry! *Looking around* ... There's also 1 hubby and a cat in here somewhere....
