In 1987 Mike Farris litigated a landmark case,
Mozert v. Hawkins County Public Schools.
Hawkins County Public
Schools expelled children who refused to read books that they said violated
their religious principles. The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled, in
effect, that parents had no rights here. "Once a childs been submitted to the
public schools parents lose all ability to control the course of instruction."
according to the article
Turning Point on the
HSLDA website.
After this defeat, Mike Farris realized that not only
was there a bias against conservative Christians at work here, but a "growing
trend of anti parent bias in the federal courts" according to another article
entitled
Failing to
Cross the Hurdle.
This growing trend is supported by the mainstream
media that fails to report such egregious trampling over the rights of
Christians whilst never missing an opportunity to report Gay Rights and the
like. This is the media where "tolerance" means acceptance and even
glorification of "Alternative Lifestyles" yet translates differently when
applied to Christian values and Jesus Christ.
Now is the time to speak
out, Christian, remembering all the while that we must seek the Lord's
guidance. We must speak out with grace and truth, respect and love, assurance
and conviction! Now is the time to teach our children to communicate because
they will face much more in their lifetime.
If there was ever a time in
history where communication skills are of utmost importance, that time is NOW!
Teach your children to speak out now or they may hear a familiar phrase one
day...
Go directly to Jail; do not pass Go, do not collect $200! Such
will be the NEW game of life!
