Welcome to the Carnival of FUNschooling September 2006 brought to you by Communication FUNdamentals for all the communication fun you can have in one blog! Come on in and take a look around! I am JoJo Tabares,
your host and your guide through the carnival today. I am a
goofball by nature and my kids and I LOVE to learn with humor and
hands on activities. So naturally we gravitate toward the
creative, the fun, the unusual and the clever! Today we bring you
the most creative and fun blogs, websites, curricula, information, tips
and support sites for homeschoolers. The Lord has given so many
people creative talents and unique ideas that help support
homeschoolers. Twice a year Communication
FUNdamentals will put together the Carnival of FUNschooling in
order to bring you the most creative and fun sites for
homeschoolers. So grab your coffee, sit back, relax and
enjoy! Don't forget to click through the links of the sites that
interest you to find out more about what they can do for you and your
homeschooling family. Some of our featured sites have specials or
free offers for you to take advantage of today so don't miss out! Studies
show that communication skills are vital for success but even more than
that, they are vital for all Christians in order to gracefully debate the issues and defend the faith.
Art of Eloquence is the only homeschool curricula that teaches
PreK-Adults to communicate in grace and truth using humor and God's
Word. Aside from the Say What You Mean Communication Curricula,
the Art of Eloquence website also offers free articles, tips and
activities along with some educational gift items that teach
communication skills. Art of Eloquence is offering 25% off any
order placed today! Just order as usual and use voucher code
312062525 at check out. Make sure to put "Carnival of FUNschooling " somewhere on your order! This
is a fairly new internet radio show hosted by veteran homeschoolers,
Leland and Kathy Fleming! The show airs
daily each Monday through Friday and features various guests
with unique perspectives and information on homeschooling issues.
Our next stop along the carnival is our very own FIMM! Foot
in Mouth Man is our recurring character from the Misadventures of Foot
in Mouth Man episodes that air on our blog each Wednesday. FIMM
is a nice guy but he just has a habit of sticking his foot in his
mouth-sometimes both feet! His comical communication faux pas are
used by many homeschoolers as a mini communication lesson for their
children. And now FIMM is a video star! FIMM just finished
work on his very first video! FIMM Video will be coming to our
blog and website just as soon as JoJo can figure out how to do that
techie stuff! But for now, come see FIMM right here in his very
first FIMM Video! Her
blog is such fun as she posts all sorts of fun and creative ideas for
homeschoolers to try! Jennie also has a website called CreativeHomeschooler.com and
she is one of the authors of Times Tales, a very creative and fun way
for young kids to learn their times tables! Jennie is offering
carnival goers $3.00 off on any purchase of Times Tales. Just email
Jennie through her website if you would like to take advantage of this
offer! Homeschooling
with Humor is a Yahoo support group for Christian parents who are
homeschooling or parenting children who are shy, gifted or have
learning disabilities like ADD/ADHD. HSwithHumor provides
information, support, activities, ideas, tips and fun for the
homeschooler and their parents!! Come on down and join the
fun! Bright
Minds is a critical thinking company that has a series of studies for
children of all ages. My own children use these studies because
they teach critical thinking in a fun way! They have books that
double as science curricula or other subjects! My kids love them
and I know yours will too! Come visit Cindy Power's blog on HSB too! Carnival of Funschooling Special - Email orders only - MamaPow@comcast.net Get ONE free item of your choice (value up to $20) with a $45 purchase - AND - Take an additional 10% off software bundles. (Offer ends 9/30/06) Kris has written a book called Team Challenges which
I loved so much that my endorsement appears on the back
cover! The book is filled with fun challenges for team building
and communication in a group! Fabulous book for a co op class! Ready-to-Assemble Lapbook-Style Project Packs! They give
away a free lapbooking unit every three months. Anyone who is

Next stop along the way is Homeschooler's NoteBook! Homeschooler's
Notebook is a free weekly newsletter just for homeschoolers with all
kinds of wonderful information presented! The newsletter even
allows you to ask a homeschooling question and get several responses in
the next issue!! This is a great site for kids to learn about nutrition in a fun and interactive way! She is the winner of the Communication FUNdamentals July Create-A-Word Contest:
Back in July we had a contest to see who could come up with a word that
meant the act of teaching using humor. Her dh came up with Scholaughticism! You can read more about the contest and runners up there. She has some great posts on her blog as well! Her
blog says "Who says learning can't be fun?" and she means it too!
Her blog is full of fun ideas and tips for homeschoolers. Go
check it out and tell her JoJo says "Happy FUNschooling"! The
Old Schoolhouse Magazine offers so many wonderful articles and tips for
homeschoolers run by Paul and Gena Suarez who also run Homeschool
Blogger.com. HomeschoolBlogger.com is the best place to have a
homeschool blog! Paul and Gena make the blog community here feel
like one big happy family! If you don't have a blog here or get
their magazine, you are missing out!! They have contests and
great offers on both the blog and the website so go check them out and
see how they can help your happy homeschool!! Lapbooking

wonderful resource for homeschoolers with all kinds of creative
articles and tips! If you already subscribe, watch for the next
issue of Homeschool Enrichment Magazine for my first in a series of
articles called How to Survive Being a Politically Incorrect Christian
in a Politically Correct World. It's an article series on how to
prepare your children for the secular world of today! As we walk down the carnival let's stop in with FIMM one more time! I
have been asked about FIMM so much since he joined our blog.
People are so taken with this well meaning communication blunderer that
folks were relating their favorite episodes! We decided to take
an unofficial poll to determine people's favorite Foot in Mouth Man
episode. What we found was that we couldn't agree on one favorite
so here are a few that folks said were their favorites: Employment Application, Used Car Sale Ad, Dog for Sale and our very first FIMM episode! My
son just loved the Usborne Kid Kits we used for science last
year! They come with everything you need to do the experiments
and a colorful book that makes it easy to teach the lessons! He
had a ball! The only problem with the Usborne Kid Kits is that
there isn't an endless supply of them!! This
lady is so funny in the way she relates her experiences of everyday
homeschooling, that I am laughing so hard I am practically
crying!! If you have never read her commentary, you are really in
for a treat! An absolutely breath-taking blog I found recently is a Picture Blog. This
woman takes amazing pictures and posts them up on her blog for all to
enjoy God's beauty! What a treat for the eyes and to meditate on
God's handiwork! Julie
Knott posts tons of free stuff for homeschoolers on her blog making
life easier and more affordable for one income homeschool
families! Julie also has a free newsletter you should check out
too! It's on the left side of her blog! This
is a virtual online convention for Christians to learn communication
skills! Celebrated each year around Former President Ronald
Reagan's birthday in February (He was known as the Great Communicator
and known for his humor and Christian outlook). This past
February was the 1st annual Say What You Mean Convention but the Say
What You Mean Convention 2007 is set to be even bigger and better with
live interactive workshops for the kids and more games and prizes and
fun as this past year! Check out the fun we had this past
February and get ready for even more fun this coming year!! Next we come to Hands and Hearts:
They produce unique, hands-on living history kits for various time
periods. Each kit contains absolutely everything needed to
complete 10 - 15 living history projects. Examples include
restoring a genuine 2,000 year old coin, mummifying "Pharaoh
Fruitenkhamen" using authentic mummification techniques, hand-sewing a
genuine leather pouch and filling it with glass marbles, a buffalo-horn
whistle (yes, real buffalo horn) and other pioneer goodies, panning for
gold (real gold included), creating hand-dipped beeswax candles,
building a fully functional miniature catapult, and much more.
They are offering you all a special: enter
the word "carnival" as a coupon code, you will receive 10% off your
entire order- expires midnight on Saturday, September 23. Now we come to a brand new Yahoo group called DisneySchooling! This
is a fun group of homeschoolers with Disneyland passes! Any
member can plan a trip there and post for others to join them.
They also find a way to get in some schooling along the way!
Anyone living near the Disneyland in California or can get there, this
is a fun group for you! Homeschool
Digest is a quarterly journal for family discipleship and has quite a
lot of interesting articles on various topics of Christian
homeschooling that brings a new and creative perspective. If you
currently subscribe, you will notice Art of Eloquence in there! Spunky
is...well, spunky! She has a blog on HSB where she gives her very
insightful thoughts on various aspects of homeschooling in the
news. She gives a fresh perspective to the items of the day and
usually references various links where you can look up the original
source to find more information. If you are a Christian
homeschooler, Spunky's blog is a must see! I
have been a member there for some time gleaning tidbits from the
seasoned homeschoolers on almost every topic imaginable! This
message board for Christian homeschoolers has just about every
homeschool topic. Just about anything in your Christian
homeschool that you need help with will be answered in grace by any
number of the members! It's a wonderful resource for any
Christian homeschooler whether you are just starting out or have
questions about graduating your homeschooler! As we are nearing the end of the Carnival of FUNschooling for September 2006 we come to Grapevine Studies! Grapevine Studies mission is to
is to provide believers with a method and curriculum to study and teach
the Word of God using timelines, stick figures, words, symbols and
colors in an interactive chronological format. It's a fun way to teach the Bible for K-12! She
is Jamin! This busy bee posts the best tips and ideas for busy
homeschoolers and she does it all with a fabulous positive attitude
that just beams all over her visitors! She is always thinking
outside the box and thankfully she posts them too! We simply could not fit in all the wonderful sites and blogs we found so that is why the Carnival of FUNschooling will be back twice a year to give you more FUNschooling
ideas and links! Thank you to all who contacted me with your
favorite sites and links. Be assured that if we weren't able to
use them this time at the Carnival of FUNschooling September 2006, we will try to make them available at the Carnival of FUNschooling December 2006! Happy FUNschooling! From JoJo's Purple Crayon... Training Christians in the Communication FUNdamentals
