Are you in Kindergarten or a Higher Grade?

Posted in MailBag Mondays
In the eMailBox today was my issue of Mountain Wings.  I love this newsletter because they usually have something insightful and Bible based.  In this issue, Are you in Kindergarten or a higher grade?, it talks about social issues.  Or as I like to call them, communication skills.  The author shares how he was discussing his 5 y/o son's social skills with a private school to determine if it was appropriate for him to go to the next grade.  He began thinking about the social skills of most adults these days.  It's a really cute story.  Here are a few excerpts:

>The majority of issues that I face when dealing with people in both business and ministry aren't performance issues. They are social issues>

Actually, research does show that most problems people face in life are communication related!  They have linked violence to a lack of effective communication resulting in frustration over not being able to convey and thus receive what the person needs or wants. Communication skills have been found to be equated with higher grades, deeper friendships, more success in a chosen career and overall general happiness.

> People just can't get along with each other.  Whether it is business or personal relationships many are easily hurt and  offended, emotional, petty, jealous, spiteful, sensitive and unforgiving.  In other words, many people are still emotionally immature.>

The issues that people have with others are typically a result of misunderstanding, miscommunication, not listening or a rush to judgement, lack of empathy or percieved ill will.  All of these are communication
skills gone wrong!

About Me

I was raised by two Atheists of Jewish heritage, married a non practicing Catholic and became a non denominational Christian due, in part, to some Amway meetings and a Jehovah's Witness who came to my door. My purple crayon writes with humor and almost always a little out of the lines. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This blog is my creative and fun way of sharing my thoughts on communication skills relating mostly to sharing and defending the faith. It also reveals a bit about how the Lord took this shy Agnostic girl and allowed her to find her voice and her purpose, a zany voice to the Christian community with insight as to what unbelievers need to hear about Christ Jesus. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DON'T MISS: Tuesday Tips, Misadventures of Foot in Mouth Man, Friday Funnies, Defending the Faith SONdays ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For more creative fun with JoJo you can visit www.ArtofEloquence.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." -Proverbs 25:11
