Majority of American University Professors have Negative View of Evangelical Christians

According to a two-year study released today by the Institute for Jewish & Community Research (IJCR), 53% of non-Evangelical university faculty say they hold cool or unfavorable views of Evangelical Christians - the only major religious denomination to be viewed negatively by a majority of faculty. 

A significant majority - 71% of all faculty - agreed with the statement: "This country would be better off if Christian fundamentalists kept their religious beliefs out of politics." By comparison, only 38% of faculty disagreed that the country would be better off if Muslims became more politically organized.

Interest in religion rising on campus

NASHVILLE May 10 -- Chaplains and professors at college campuses across the nation, including Harvard and Berkeley, say student interest in religion and spirituality is higher than ever, according to a report in The New York Times quoted by Baptist Press on Wednesday.

Planned Parenthood 'covers up' rape

LOS ANGELES May 10 -- An undercover reporter for a student magazine at UCLA reported that the local Planned Parenthood staff tried to cover up a feigned case of statutory rape. Student reporter Lila Rose, posing as a 15 year-old, entered a Santa Monica Planned Parenthood office and announced that a 23 year-old man had impregnated her, according to the Advocate, a student magazine at UCLA.

The staff encouraged Rose to "figure out a birth-date that works," falsifying her age to avoid statutory rape charges against her boyfriend, and encouraged her to proceed with the abortion. They told Rose that if she said she was 16 or older, they wouldn't have to report the rape, Christian Newswire reported Thursday.
