Not everyone believes in the Christian faith. I understand that. God allows us each free will. This is America and we have freedom of religion.
People have the right to disagree with my faith and speak out to share their beliefs. I understand that too. This is America and we have freedom of speech.
What I don't understand is how you can claim you are a Christian and openly mock the very words of your Lord and Savior. What I don't understand is how you can claim you are a Christian and not have read the Bible enough to know that you are taking scripture out of context. What I don't understand is how you can run for the highest office in our country, where the majority of Americans claim Christianity as their faith, and in a disrespectful, mocking tone speak out against what they believe and expect they won't take offense.
Senator Obama, if you really knew your Bible, you would understand that it talks about Indentured Servants NOT the systematic enslavement and mistreatment of innocent people simply because of the color of their skin. And it doesn't say we should turn the other cheek to our enemies to avoid war at all costs including our own destruction. It talks about a simple offense by an individual such as a comment.
One thing we all must understand about communication is that it has consequences. While Americans are free to believe and speak out for what they believe in, they are also free to decide if they take offense to what someone has said. And on November 4th they are free to vote for the candidate they feel is in alignment with their core values.
He just scares me. I really just don't understand how people can think he would be a good choice to lead a tour at a zoo, nevertheless our country. Thanks for posting this and I'll give the link in my blog too. :)
I don't understand how as Christians we could vote for someone who voted no to livesaving measures for infants born in an unsuccessful abortion. It breaks my heart.
Until we see the entire video I think it is really unfair to say that he was mocking the Bible. Sorry! And also there are so many Christians who do things that do not follow the Word. For example, Palin is at a rally where people are literally shout "kill him" in reference to Obama. What does she do? And then I ask - what would Jesus have done? Would have let people say such means things about one of God's children.
Who are we to judge who Obama is when we really don't know? If I say I am Christian but I do not judge gays or those who choose to have abortions, will I be considered a non-Christian because I choose to have the heart of Christ and not judge the sins of others when I too do wrong.
At this point, there is so much ugliness on both sides that I am not voting at all. And personally I really don't think Jesus would either. Too much division among God's people.
I'm not for Obama by any means, but that video looked as fake as fake can get. Whoever made the video took a few sentences from one huge speech that Obama gave to show his side of the religious/moral debate that swirls around him everyday. I wouldn't vote for him. I'm all for McCain. Obama won't stand up for the National Anthem. That ticks me off. There is a lot more wrong with him, but you can't be too naive about the video. Please don't. It just doesn't look right.
Watch the real video of the speech it's the call to renewal speech on his website barackobama.com.
I respectfully disagree. Senator Obama's attitude and snickers and his opening statement that you cannot run the country using the Bible as a guide communicates where he is coming from on this issue.
Sarah Palin was not the one shouting "kill him" which would have been WRONG on her part. These are Barack Obama's own words.
I am not saying we condemn, I am saying we need to discern and search our hearts to vote our morals. I think the Bible says it is our duty to vote and speak up for our beliefs. I believe Christians should vote but I respect your feelings and decision not to.
I was raised by two Atheists of Jewish heritage, married a non practicing Catholic and became a non denominational Christian due, in part, to some Amway meetings and a Jehovah's Witness who came to my door. My purple crayon writes with humor and almost always a little out of the lines.

This blog is my creative and fun way of sharing my thoughts on communication skills relating mostly to homeschooling and sharing and defending the faith. It also reveals a bit about how the Lord took this shy Agnostic girl and allowed her to find her voice and her purpose, a zany voice to the Christian community with insight as to what unbelievers need to hear about Christ Jesus.
