The Father warns us about the use of our tongues and to keep the door to our mouths. He shares with us why we are to speak up for what is right, why we should edify others and lift them up. We need these instructions because we are prone to sin and many a sin comes out of our mouths, but the words of the Lord are pure.
"The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times."- Psalms 12:6
God's words are perfect. He is both strong and gentle. He is loving and kind yet tells us the truth whether we may want to hear it or not. His words both convict us and comfort us. It is why many of them are put into worship music. Listen to God's Words. Pay attention to how He communicates with us. His words are always perfect. It is a gift the Father gives us.
There is no perfect way for us to communicate because we are sinners and we do not have the benefit of knowing all things that are in the hearts of those we communicate with as He does. God mentions communication skills literally hundreds and hundreds of times in the Bible. To be mentioned that many times, the Lord must think it a pretty important subject. Although many of us think of communication skills as being just for lawyers and politicians, the Bible says it is vital for us all. Though we often think of communication skills only as it relates to giving speeches or manners, the Bible says it is important in every day life.
We may not be able to be perfect communicators like the Lord, but we can learn how to communicate more effectively if we pattern our communication after His. It is important that we learn to communicate effectively in today's more complicated, global and increasingly secular world. Why? Because our children are watching us. Unbelievers are watching us. Baby Christians are looking to us. Souls are counting on us!
Ronald Reagan was called "The Great Communicator." He never stopped honing his skills. He was that good because he took his lifetime to hone his communication skills. He used his humor, his positive outlook, his communication skill and his Christian beliefs to shape the nation of his time.
May we all take the time to continue to study and grow in the Art of Eloquence long after these 21 days so that we may be more Godly in our communication.

I was raised by two Atheists of Jewish heritage, married a non practicing Catholic and became a non denominational Christian due, in part, to some Amway meetings and a Jehovah's Witness who came to my door. My purple crayon writes with humor and almost always a little out of the lines.

This blog is my creative and fun way of sharing my thoughts on communication skills relating mostly to homeschooling and sharing and defending the faith. It also reveals a bit about how the Lord took this shy Agnostic girl and allowed her to find her voice and her purpose, a zany voice to the Christian community with insight as to what unbelievers need to hear about Christ Jesus.
