Question of the Week: What would you most like to be remembered for?
Question of the Week
This is a new segment for my blog and I ask you to help me out by adding your comments and posting them on your blog as well. I have been doing a "Question of the Week" on my homeschool Yahoo group for a few years now. It's been a fun way to discuss issues and share ideas as well as get to know each other better.
How it Works:
Each Monday I'll ask a thought provoking question about life. Pose the same question to your blog readers on your own blog along with your answer to the question. Then come back here and post a comment with a link to your blog post so we can all read everyone's answers! Should be a lot of fun!
This week's question:
What is the one thing you would most like to be remembered for?
JoJo's Answer:
There are many things I want to leave behind when I leave this earth to be with the Father in heaven. I want my children to remember their Lord and serve Him always. I want to leave behind a generation who is prepared with the communication skills to stand up and speak out in boldness and grace for the things of the Lord. But what I pray for most is more of a globalization of those things: that I will be remembered as someone who left behind a blessing wherever she was able.
I live my life by a code that I will always try to leave more than I take; that would leave a smile where there was sadness, hope where there was despair and anyone who meets me better off than they were before I came. If that only means a smile to a stranger from across a crowded street, I have accomplished my mission.
If I find a sister in need, may I fill it. If I find a brother burdened, may I uplift him. If I find a soul in unbelief, may I show him the way to salvation.
What is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?
Post your answers on your blog and come back here and put your link in so we can read it! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers here.

Jan. 26, 2009 - Answer to your question
I realized that we are called to do service to others whether we feel we possess a special gift or not. This verse speaks about giving a cup of cold water to someone in need...addressing a physical need for someone. But there are other needs that one can have as well. It may be emotional where they need a shoulder to cry on, or it could be spiritual where they need encouragement and support to continue on in the walk they have committed too. After reading this verse many years ago, I don't look or hope for a ministry anymore. I just ask the Lord to open my eyes to the physical, emotional, or spiritual needs of those around me. Then I do what I can to help them.
I know this is a long way to answering your question. But what I would like to be remembered for is being a person that cares. A person that makes a difference. A person that was there to help in whatever capacity when someone needed it. The greatest compliment I can receive is to hear someone say "You helped me more than you will know." It is then that I know I have successfully done what the Lord has asked of me.
