What's New at Art of Eloquence?

This week has been an exciting week and a week of changes here at Art of Eloquence. You may notice that the newsletter has had a facelift of sorts! We pray this will make it easier for you to find the information you wish to read more about.
The Say What You Mean Convention was a huge hit. The feedback is that everyone had such fun! We had 9 contests, 18 live events, 29 hours of instruction, 40+ audios still available, gave away over 400 ePackets of extra gifts to our registrants, and had over 1500 participants! Art of Eloquence will bediscontinuing a few things this month. Over the last few years, I had built up quite a ministry which included a weekly podcast, a daily blog, 4 weekly newsletters, several Yahoo groups, weekly Foot in Mouth Man episodes, 3 annual online events, one HUGE annual online convention to name a few. At the request of my husband, I will be downsizing and simplifying many of these responsibilities in order to spend more time with my family. I will continue to host the annual Say What You Mean Convention and my weekly podcast, however others will be done at longer intervals or will be eliminated.
To that end, this newsletter will be the only one we put out. I will be incorporating elements of each of our 4 newsletters back into one weekly newsletter that will come out each Tuesday morning. The newsletter will include a weekly column or article and links to various things I feel you would find enlightening: news items affecting the freedom of speech for Christians, a Friday Funny from my blog, etc. You can see this week's links on the right under AoE This Week.
Foot in Mouth Man will go from weekly to monthly episodes and only the newest episodes and a hand full of past episodes will be available on his page on the Art of Eloquence website. We have created a brand new eBook that is the greatest of FIMM in our new FIMMology 101: The Study of the Humorous Sins of Our Mouths. I hope you have marked your calendars and are ready for three days of pure fun! But as Charles Schultz said: "Try not to have a good time... this is supposed to be educational!"
Well, folks... I had a fight with technology this morning and technology won! I sincerely apologize to anyone who attempted to come to the Birthday Bash show on Grace Talk Soup this morning. TalkShoe.com is still trying to figure out what happened.
I logged on at ten til the hour to find that I was muted. I was able to text but unable to unmute myself. After a minute or two I decided to try hanging up and dialing in again. I was elated to see that I was unmuted. Unfortunately, about a half hour into the show, it said "recording ended"! I made a valiant untechie try to create a second show logging off and on several times, but each time I had the same issues. The wheels began to turn as a thought came to me that I might be able to speak if I signed on using another profile. That too failed to work. After an hour and a half or more of valiant attempts to connect and a call to TalkShoe Tech Support, I knew it wasn't going to work.
The original show did, indeed record, but what you will find when you listen is about a half hour of utter silence!
I find it strangely coincidental that this had not happened to anyone else as far as Talk Shoe is aware. This is the first time this has ever happened as far as anyone knows. My work must be a threat to the Evil One as he went to great lengths to silence me today. But I will not be silenced.
I still plan on teaching my family communication workshops and give away all the prizes. In fact, if there is a way to make the Birthday Bash even bigger and better, I will do it. I had scheduled a Christmas show in December and I think I will combine the two making the Birthday Bash even more special by focusing on Jesus (CHRISTmas) even more than I had planned to today!
In order to overrule the Evil One, I am asking that you ALL turn out for the event in December! Let's show him that he has no power here! Come spend three hours with me having fun with your kids at the workshops and participating in some contests for prizes! I would love to have an even bigger turnout than there would have been today! Who's with me?
I deeply apologize for my abscence this morning but I promiss to be there in December with an even bigger and better show that honors God and teaches His children to stand up and speak out in grace and truth!
About two or three years ago, a local school district told me that they would love use my curriculum in the public schools if I would just "take the God parts out". I was actually told this by two different people connected with the school district. They loved my studies and wanted me to teach but only if I would take God out of my presentation. I just couldn't do it. I was told that nobody would allow me to speak in a school if I didn't strip my presentation of the Lord.
Well, I have been invited to teach a workshop at a secular college down the hill. I called them back to confirm the details of what they wanted. I was up front with her and told her that my studies are Christian based and that I would be speaking from a Christian perspective and using some scripture. I told her that I do tone it down a bit for a more secular audience but that I do mention God, His Word and some scripture in my presentation. To my surprise, she said..."Ok." Soooo...I am going to be teaching at Chaffey Community College on November 3rd for their 1st annual Mother-Daughter Leadership Wellness Conference and Expo! They are even giving us a free booth- to house "the God parts". LOL
Now I just have to find someone to man the booth while I am teaching my seminar. Kelsey (my dd) will be taking two SAT2s that same day so she and my dh will be gone that morning. My son can go with Dad to take Kelsey to her dreaded last SATs but that will leave me sort of booth partner-less. I do have about a month to figure that part out though so please pray that I will find someone to help me.
If you are in Southern California, this event should prove to be very nice! If you do go, I would love for you to stop by my booth and say hello! I would love to meet some of you in person!
The Purple Crayon is the Pen Name I use on my blog, Communication FUNdamentals. Purple is the color of royalty as Jesus is King in Heaven. The crayon is a symbol of youth when we were at our most creative and before we it was pounded into our heads that we have to color inside the lines.

Say What You Mean: Defending the Faith is the first CommUniversity class we will be offering and it begins tommorrow. This special semester class will (virtually) meet every Tuesday at 8am PST/ 11am EST for one hr per week for 18 weeks. If you already have Say What You Mean: Defending the Faith, you or your teen can attend this full semsester TeleClass for only $15 more. Due to the short notice of this class, I am only taking 5-10 students this time so do hurry. This ensures even more in class practice time for students this semester.
Art of Eloquence CommUniversity is so new that it isn't yet on our website. This class is only available to my mailing list and a few Chrsitian groups.
I was raised by two Atheists of Jewish heritage, married a non practicing Catholic and became a non denominational Christian due, in part, to some Amway meetings and a Jehovah's Witness who came to my door. My purple crayon writes with humor and almost always a little out of the lines.

This blog is my creative and fun way of sharing my thoughts on communication skills relating mostly to homeschooling and sharing and defending the faith. It also reveals a bit about how the Lord took this shy Agnostic girl and allowed her to find her voice and her purpose, a zany voice to the Christian community with insight as to what unbelievers need to hear about Christ Jesus.
