What I've been up to

Hi folks!  I hope your fall has gone well. I have been very very busy! Sorry I haven't posted for a while.  I am working on three ebooks, and I hope you're interested in them!

One is a "prequel" for my Computer Science Pure and Simple curriculum. It's for third through fifth graders who want to do some programming with MicroWorlds.  In fact, I have a little class going now from my homeschool co-op of kids this age.  We are having a great time drawing wild colors and tiles, using commands to the turtle of course.

Another one is Web Site ABC's, a handbook for do-it-yourselfers who want to tackle learning how to build and maintain a Web site business.  This book assumes you know something about computers, like how to use email, but want to know more.  It's motivated by my desire to help my friend Wendy learn to put up a Web site for her e-cookbook.  The book talks about sales Web sites, and also about information Web sites which can gather revenue from Google Adwords. Sign up for my newsletter on it at www.WebSite-ABCs.com.

The third ebook is called Nurturing Your Asperger's Child.  Two of my children have Asperger's Syndrome, and I am going to share what I have learned along the way--what worked and what didn't.  Find out more ont his one at  www.NurturingYourAspergersChild.com.  Sign up for my newsletter on it there, if you are interested!

Blessings,

Phyllis Wheeler

Dec. 26, 2005 - Asperger's

Posted by Anonymous

I have a friend who has a son with Asperger's and is beginning to suspect that two of her daughter's also have it. (She has 8 children from ages 1-14.) I would love more information that I could send to her.

Dec. 28, 2005 - Info for your friend about Asperger's

Dear Christina,

For starters, you could sign up for my newsletter on the subject at http://www.nurturingyouraspergerschild.com. Also, Tony Attwood is a reliable professional source of information who has written a number of books. The writer who helped me the most, however, is Michelle Garcia Winner, a speech therapist in California who writes books about how to teach the child social skills. She wrote a great manual now called "Inside Out" which you can investigate at this link: http://www.specialneeds.com/books.asp?id=10988
