Confessions of a Homeschool Dad

Public Schools: No "Under God", but please recite the Quran.

We're all familiar with the lengths to which the public school system will go to keep Christianity out.  No prayers, no Bibles, no crosses.  The Bill of Rights says so, don't ya know...

However, that doesn't mean that public schools are against religion.  Particularly if yours is a misunderstood one.

Here's an article in Investors Business Daily that talks about how California's 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (those fun-loving guys that gave you "No Under God in the Pledge" and "parents have no choice whether we teach sex ed to 1st graders") has approved indoctrinating kids with Islam.

It turns out that a school was teaching history by having the kids "become" Muslim.  They would recite the Quoran, give up tings for Ramadan, and chant "Praise be to Allah".

Some parents were a little concerned, since this seemed a lot like encouraging religion in school.  The Bill of Rights is against that, isn't it?  I coulda sworn...

And where is California getting the information for "playing Muslim" with these kids?  "The ed consultant's name is Susan L. Douglass. No, she's not a Christian scholar. She's a devout Muslim activist on the Saudi government payroll, according to an investigation by Paul Sperry, author of "Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington."

Apparently, we are supposed to have the fictional "separation of church and state", but not all churches require quite as much separation,  I guess.

Well what can you expect from a state like California...
That is why I left too many liberals and so on... (or un-americans?)
I guess people are not loyal to their forefathers... they blow with the wind? hmm
It saddens my heart... But then again where all those so called Christians allowing this to happen?.... oh probably working to make more money to afford to live there...?? *** Suzie ***

Didn't you already give us the answer to this?
I thought you wrote something some months ago stating that even the school districts believe that Christianity is the One True Religion, otherwise why would they target only Christianity for exclusion?

What amazes me is that there wasn't a lasting UPROAR over this...obviously, these people have not read the Q'uaran or have selectively read passages...hmmm, the liberals who tout tolerance are touting a "religion" that teaches intolerance of anything non-muslim. Oh, don't get me or my DH started....

I don't understand how you can say the Christians aren't allowed to do anything at school with regards to their religion. It's all over the text books. Recently, my 2nd grader started the McGraw Hill Social Studies, 2nd Grade, CA edition and on the first few pages its talks about the Christians along with Pilgrims and how the Indians were forced to go to Oklahoma to make room for more incoming Christian Pilgrims from Europe. Haven't you noticed "Bible Club" in High School?? I keep hearing this over & over that the Christians are being put out but come on?? You either want separation of Church & State or you don't. If you want to Celebrate Christmas in school that is a Christian Holiday which almost every Public School celebrates regards less of what religion other kids are. Christians complain when someone tries to take away Christmas in school, so how can you say that it’s being taken away?? You can not say I want the Christian belief to be taught but no other religions. In the public school system in the US most of any type of religion taught is Christianity. I believe all people of all religions should be able to pray or read their religious text in public school. If you look at History you will see it's all about Religion! It doesn't matter which religion Jewish, Christians, or Muslims, every event is a Religious one. This is what makes teaching Social Studies so hard in school. Most textbooks don’t tell the truth about real events. How does some one teach one event and not another?? This is why you do have to explain Religion including Islam to schools. Yea, maybe the way they did it in the article you stated was wrong but they could have done things differently. They could learn about the people of a certain country based on what they eat, what language they speak, what they wear, how they live their lives, what holidays they celebrate , this is important. Sometimes I get this bad feeling from AM Radio and such that if you aren't a White Christian living in the US then you aren't really from here. CRAZY! Well white people aren’t' really from here and this is what makes AMERICA SO GREAT! Everyone is different in so many ways. What country has that???!!! If people don't like it then they can go back to the country their original families came from.
