A Little Political Activism
Every now and again, I see a bill or other piece of legislation that could use support by, well, most of America.
Senate Bill 2590 is one of those bills.
This is an interesting piece of legislation that would allow you, the average citizen, to go online and quickly see where your government is spending your money. Seems logical, doesn't it?
Only, there are a few folks who don't want this bill to see the light of day. Here's the writeup in AFA.
Now, I know they're using a good deal of hype in describing what is happening to the bill. For instance, I don't know that I'd call it a "Secret Hold" - it is just a procedure that forces a committee assignment and vote.
However, it absolutely is a piece of legislation that could use your support. There is a section of the website to look up your US Senators and send an e-mail.
HOWEVER, e-mails are mostly ignored. If you take the time to call your Senator, it will make a difference. Of course, you'll never actually talk to your Senator (they're much too busy, dontchaknow), but you can leave your support of this bill with a staffer.
THEN write a simple letter in support of the citizens and sources of all of their money being able to easily see where it is spend and mail that in, THAT will make a difference.
Truthfully, there isn't anyone, regardless of party, who should oppose this. Transparency in government is always a good thing.
