THIS SPRING AT THE
GREEN  STREET ARTS CENTER
--
GREEN STREET ARTS CENTER OFFERS AFFORDABLE CLASSES FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN IN MUSIC, DANCE, WRITING, VISUAL AND MEDIA ARTS

SPRING REGISTRATION DEADLINE: THURSDAY, APRIL 5th

Middletown, Conn., March 22, 2007-The Green Street Arts Center, a project of Wesleyan University in collaboration with the City of Middletown and the North End Action Team, is offering six-week classes for adults, teens and children this spring. The spring registration deadline is Thursday, April 5th, for classes in everything from World Jewelry Techniques and Video Storytelling, to Tai Chi and Ballet. Classes begin the week of April 9th, leading up to the third annual Green Street Arts Festival June 16th. The Center's after-school arts program is admitting children ages 7-8 and 12-18.

In keeping with Green Street's goal of helping people identify and realize their creative potential, many of Green Street's classes have beginner-friendly prices of $100 or less. Register with a friend or family member and you both will receive 15% off the price of tuition. Senior citizens get a 10% discount.

Throughout the spring, Green Street will be offering workshops in tap dance, cartooning, jewelry making, filmmaking and buying a home for first-time buyers. Space is limited! Register now by calling 860-685-7871.

Green Street's Friday night series are also growing in popularity, including Green Speak: Open Mic (first Fridays); the Green House Music Series (second Fridays) and In the Limelight (third Fridays).

Those interested in registering for classes in the spring session may call 860-685-7871 or visit www.greenstreetartscenter.org for more information. Private music lessons with vocalists, drummers, pianists, saxophonists, guitarists, and violinists are open for new students and need-based financial aid is available.
The Green Street Arts Center, which opened in January 2005, is an initiative of Wesleyan University developed in collaboration with the City of Middletown and the North End Action Team to provide an anchor for the revitalization efforts already underway in the North End. Programming in the former schoolhouse at 51 Green Street includes a vibrant after school program and a wide range of affordable classes and workshops for children and adults in music, dance, visual arts, theater, sound recording, media arts and creative writing.

Participation at Green Street is open to everyone; tuition assistance is available. To receive more information about the Green Street Arts Center, call 860-685-7871 or visit
