Thoughts On Love

Mark 12:29-31 " 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

God seems to put a lot of emphasis on love! The most important things to do in following Him are to love Him with everything you have, and to love other people more than you love yourself. Why is that? What is so important about love?

1st John 4:8 "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."

A definition I’ve heard for wickedness is “the absence of God”. If God is love, then we can replace the word “God” with the word “love” and still have the same meaning, right? So wickedness is “the absence of love”! Wow, I guess that might be what’s so important about love, huh?

1st Corinthians 13:1 "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal."

The tongues of angels…I wonder what angels talk about? Well, they are constantly in the presence of God, right? I’d like to think that because of God’s awesomeness, the angels can’t stop talking about Him! He’s just so amazing that everything they could talk about pales in comparison!

So, if we spoke the way that angels speak (talking about God) to other people (as we’ve been called to do), but don’t love those people that we’re talking to, we’re not going to make any impression on them at all! All we’re going to do is be the stereotypical “hypocritical Christian” who is just telling them something to get brownie points from God! A clanging cymbal that everyone just wants to be quiet!

The only way we’re ever going to get people to listen to us when we tell them about God’s love for them, is to show them His love through us!

Matthew 24:12 “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”

This verse sounds a lot like what’s going on today to me. Love is being distorted by the world around us, even by Christians! All that the world tends to see when they think of love is s*x, or something that is there through the good times, but leaves when the storms of life come. This is a horribly distorted image of love, so much so that we can no longer see the very definition of love (God) in it anymore!

And Christians have similar problems. We “love” others by not telling them about God’s love for them. We say, “Oh, but I don’t want to offend them” or “They’ll think that I’m weird, and that will give them a bad image of Christians”. But really, how can we say we love our friends when we won’t even tell them about the most important thing in our lives? Is it really loving to let them walk blindly through life and then find themselves in hell when they die? No! No, that is not loving at all! That’s the opposite!

Dear friends, I struggle with this too. I am not a “super-Christian” who has brought many to Christ. In all honesty, I’ve never brought someone to Christ. I’ve helped someone rededicate their life to Him, and I’ve been there when someone accepted Christ for the first time, but I’ve never been the one to go up to someone and tell them the good news of Jesus. I think “Oh, they’ll see it in the way I live and if they’re interested they’ll ask me.” And while it is very good to live a life that shows Christ through it, that is not enough. This is something God has convicted me of recently, and I am trying to get better at it, because, as I said, that’s what true love is. It’s caring enough to do the hard things that could offend people, but it could also save them or at least plant a seed in them.

1st Corinthians 13:8 "Love never fails."

But without love you are sure to fail.

Penelope

Penelope is a romantic film that talks about a girl named Penelope Wilhern. She is a beautiful young woman with one small problem.....She was born with a face of a pig due to a family curse. According to Penelope n the beginning of the movie, her Great Great Great Grandfather was in love with a servant girl named Clara, but his family did not like her because she is a 'servant girl'. So to make his family happy he married someone else and Clara ended up killing herself. Soon the Town Witch(who is also Clara mother) did not like what just happen and decided to teach the Wilhern family a lesson they'll never forget, by putting a curse on them, claimming that the next Wilhern girl will have a face of a pig and the curse will only be broken if 'one of their own kind' will accept her the way she is. For five generations, only sons were born into the family that is til (we enter the present) Penelope came along. Her mother, Jessica was the only one to taking the curse more badly then anyone else, so in order for no one to find out about the curse, she hide Penelope inside the house. So like Rapunzel locked in a tower, Penelope spend the rest of her life inside her bedroom. As Penelope got older and at the age she can get married, her parent tries to find a man that is 'one of their own kind' to break the curse. No such luck, til one day, she meets Johnny, but pretend to be Max Campion because he is working for a sneaky photographer, but after a few days talking to Penelope, he falls in love with her. His talk with her made her decided she needs to declare her independence, so she decided to run away and adventure out in the city. WIll she break the curse?

Characters
Penelope - A beautiful young woman with a face of a pig. She spends her life in her home and is convince that she is not her self. So she  tries to find a man to break the curse. She wants to declare her independence. She is Played by Christina Ricci

Johnny "Max" Martin
- A man who likes to gamble and plays the piano. He was taught into secretly take a picture of Penelope, but after a few days talking with her, he falls in love with her, but he knows he couldn't break the curse. He is played by James McAvoy

Jessica
- Penelope's Overreacted, overprotected mother. She took the curse more badly then anyone else is. She is the one who kept Penelope fro, the outside world. She has a temper problem. She doesn't accept Penelope the way she is and convince Penelope that she is not 'herself'. She does stuff that she thinks is best for Penelope, but she doesn't see how unhappy Penelope is and she was only thinking about what she wants. She really wants to break the curse so badly. She is Played by Catherine O'Hara

Lemon
- A photographer who be wanting to get a picture of Penelope ever since she was little. This also cost his eye. He is played by Peter Dinklage

Edward
- a spoiled rotten rich man. When he saw Penelope, he went a little to far by believing she is a monster. He tries to prove to the world that he is not crazy and convince Lemon to help him. He is Played by Simon Woods

Franklin
- Penelope's Father. He is played by Richard E. Grant

Wanda
- A matchmaker who Jessica hired to find a blue-blood that will accept Penelope the way she is. She is played by Ronni Ancona

Annie
- Penelope's friend she met when she ran away from home. She is played by Reese Witherspoon

Positive
This movie is basically teaches us to accept people the way she is. If  Penelope's Great Great Great Grandfater's family would have accepted Claire the way she is, then Penelope wouldn't have the curse and she would have a better life. It seems that Penelope's father and Wanda seems to accepted her the way she is but never admit it. Annie accepted her the way she is when she met her and Johnny accept her as well but he knows he can't break the curse(Penelope does't know that til the end of the movie). Lemon is not a mean man in the movie, he just wants to see Penelope.
Negative
There are some cuse words in the movie as well as gambling and drinking. Jessica is the only one who does not accept Penelope the way she is. She wants to break the curse so bad that she doesn't see how Penelope feels. She taunt Penelope that is is not herself.

I defiantly giving Penelope a 5 because it is a fun romantic movie that all teenagers will love.

Chapter 13
The Truth

“What?” Cassie exclaimed standing up.

“Yes, I’m Wolf Woman. Now maybe you can understand all of those times that I ran off, or stayed away for a week, or lied to you. I’m not saying that that’s an excuse for lying to you. I should have told you before, but maybe you can see why I did.”

Cassandra looked away from Julia, but then she looked back, “Prove it to me.”

“Prove what?”

“That you’re Wolf Woman.”

“Oh, okay.” Julia said, “Cap Flow.” The Wolf Suit appeared on her. “There you go.”

Cassie turned away, “All right. Now take it off so that I’m just talking to Julia, not a Superhero.”

“Cap Flow,” Julia said once more.

There was silence for almost a minute then Cassie lost it, “How could you have kept this a secret from me? All those times we trusted each other with our crushes, wishes, and all other secrets, but really you were keeping the biggest one of all to yourself! I thought you trusted me! I thought…”

Julia sensed what she thought, “I loved you?”

Cassie turned and nodded, hot tears running down her face.

“I do love you, Cassie. That’s why I kept it a secret. If you knew then someone could hurt you to find out. I didn’t want that to happen.”

“So you lied instead and hurt me yourself.”

“I know.” Julia said, “I know. I have hurt you. By not being there for you, and by not telling you about this. Cassie, I was wrong, but please believe me, I thought that I was doing the right thing. I truly did.”

“Well it wasn’t.”

“I know now.”

“And it hurts.”

“I know that too.”

“I still love you.”

“I’m glad.”

“But I’m a little mad.”

“At least.”

“Yeah, at least.”

“I’m sorry. But now you know. I hope that someday you’ll forgive me for not telling you.”

“I do. I do. But I’m still mad so I don’t. But I do.”

Julia laughed quietly, “Think about it, clear your mind and we’ll talk later.” She stood up and walked over to the door. “Night, Cass.”

“Night, Julia.”

Mon, Nov 20th, 2056

Julia and Cassandra ate their dinner in silence. Their parents talked about what they’d done that day. Every once in a while Julia or Cassie would nod their head, but they did nothing more than that.

Finally, Christina Wolfe got sick of their silence, “What’s wrong with you two? Normally you’re talking so much that Dad and I can’t get a word in edgewise.”

“Julia can tell you.”

Julia turned and looked at her sister, “Are you sure that you want me to be the one to tell them?”

Cassie just nodded.

Julia sighed, “Cassie is mad at me because she found out a secret that I’d been keeping that I’d never told her.”

“Well Cassandra? Is that the reason?” their Mom asked.

She nodded.

“People are entitled to have secrets that they don’t tell anyone, Cassie. Except for their parents that is,” she added quickly.

“I know, but I’m still mad.”

“Why? What was the secret?”

Julia sighed again, “She found out who I am last night.”

“Oh.”

There was silence for a little bit, and then Michael Wolfe asked, “How? How did you find out, Cass?”

“Because the Principal talked to me about Julia and why she was gone. He had a completely different story than I had been told. I asked her about it and caught her.”

“Julia!”

“Mom, I tried! But like she just said, she caught me. I had to tell.”

“So it’s really Mom’s fault that you didn’t tell me?”

“No. I still wouldn’t have. Because I didn’t want to put you in danger. Mom wanted that too, but I wouldn’t have told you anyways. I’m sorry. I should have told you earlier, but it seemed like the right thing to do.”

“Yeah well it wasn’t!”

“People make mistakes, Cass. The Bible says that all people sin. That ‘all’ includes me. I’m not sure that keeping it a secret was a sin per-say, but it was a mistake. One that I truly sorry for.”

“Yeah, well-”

“I think I liked it better when you two were quiet.” their Dad broke in. “Cassie, Julia admitted that she made a mistake and she said that she was sorry for it. Can’t you forgive her and move on?”

Easier said than done!

Julia started at this thought that she’d heard come from her sister. It had to be a very strong thought, or else she wouldn’t have heard it. But it surprised her, not because her sister thought that, but because she wasn’t used to her developing powers yet.

“Yes, Dad.” Cassie turned to Julia, “I’m sorry I yelled, and I forgive you. I know that you thought what you were doing was right.”

“I forgive you for yelling. Thank-you for forgiving me.” Even though it’ll probably take a while before you truly do forgive me.

There was silence for the rest of the meal. Cassie finished first and ran upstairs. Julia rushed through the rest of her meal and ran up too.

Julia knocked on Cassie’s door. “Come in,” a quiet, slightly annoyed voice said.

“Cass?”

“Yeah?”

“You haven’t asked me yet.”

“Asked you what?”

“What I promised I’d do with you when I came back.”

“I haven’t been in the mood to ask.”

“Well,” Julia said, “do you want to know?”

“Sure.”

“Well, I bought tickets for us to go see our favorite band, Implosion.”

Cassie’s eyes lit up.

“But then I was delayed and the concert was two days ago.”

“Oh.”

“So then I thought, ‘Maybe I can trade them in for some tickets to another concert by them’, but that didn’t work out either.”

Cassie groaned, “Why are you telling me this?”

“Because then I happened to tell a good friend of mine about what happened, and he personally bought us two more tickets to see the show in Portland, Oregon, plus two-way tickets for a plane ride there! We’d leave on Friday after school, stay at your old friend Melissa’s house, go to the concert with her on Saturday-I’m paying for that ticket-and then come home on Sunday.”

Cassie’s eyes widened, “Really? Wow! And you’ve talked this over with Mom, Dad, and Melissa’s parents?”

“Would I tell you this if I hadn’t yet?”

“Wow! This is great! So who’s the friend?”

Who do I say? Dick or Robin? “He or she wishes to remain anonymous.”

“Well, tell him or her thank-you for me!”

“I will.”

“And thank-you for doing that originally, and for working this all out.”

“Are you still mad at me?”

“Yes, a little. But I’ll get over it; I just need some time.”

“I understand completely, Cassie,” Julia said. “I really do.”

“Thanks, Julia. And I won’t act like I did at the dinner table again; that was really rude of me.”

“I know you won’t, and I forgive you for doing so.”

Cassie stood up and hugged her sister. They had some problems, but they’d work them out together.

Leo looked over Rabies’ shoulder, “How’s the Neutrium coming along?”

“Very well, Leo. Soon it should be ready to use.”

“It’s too bad those darn Super Friends wiped the location out of our minds.”

“Yeah, and off of our computer when they came to steal the info. But don’t worry, Leo. Soon the little bit we do have will be ready, then we can get some payback!”

That's the end of The C.F.M.C. I am currently working on the story that comes after this, but it's going rather slowly. Because of this, I won't be posting the next installment of Wolf Woman's story until I start getting back into my Superhero flow. In the meantime, however, I am posting another story of mine at this blog: Songflight. It is totally unrelated to this story and has nothing to do with Superheroes, but I hope that you will still come by and see if you like it. I hope to be able to post more Wolf Woman stories, as well as a story about another of my Superheroes that takes place about ten years before Wolf Woman came into being soon. But until then, I hope you enjoy Songflight.

Hello fellow Homeschool Bloggers! This blog is where I post chapters from the book I am writing entitled "Songflight". Because this is my first attempt at writing my own book (aka, not a fanfiction-type story (see Wolf Woman for an example)) I am making my posts here visible only to my friends. I am very attached to this story and my characters and ideas and do not want them stolen. If you've read the description and are interested in reading my book, I suggest you first go to my regular blog (SeaChel) and get to know the author before asking to add me to your friends list. Thank-you all, and God bless!

Chapter 12, Part 2

Posted by SeaChel
12:14 PM, Oct. 12, 2009 Posted in The C.F.M.C. • 1 comments • Link

Once they were sure that the Legion was taken care of, the Super Friends had one more thing to do: destroy the Neutrium.

The most powerful of the Super Friends all went to the mine the Legion had made and found the Neutrium. They grabbed a small sample to make an antidote from (in case more Neutrium was ever found) and then destroyed the rest..

Once their job was done, they all headed to the Titan’s HQ. This was a day to celebrate.

Once those who were hurt in the fight were taken care of, they all headed to the big room. There they listened to rock music, talked with friends, and pigged out.

Wolf Woman, who had dyed her hair back to her natural blond color, would wait for all the fun; first she had to figure something out that had been bugging her. She walked over to Raven.

“Hey Raven,” she said, “could I ask you something?”

“Sure, what is it?”

“Telepath, while I was captured, scanned me and found out some things about me. He told me what he found out and one of the things that he said that he found was that I am telepathic. Was he telling the truth?”

Raven looked surprised, “He said you’re telepathic?”

Wolf Woman nodded.

“Well, I won’t know for sure unless I scan you. If you really want to know, fine, but that’s what it will take.”

“Yes, I want to know. Go ahead Raven.”

Wolf Woman braced herself, when Telepath had scanned her before it hurt very badly, so she wanted to be prepared. Raven looked directly at Wolf Woman, yet somehow through her. Raven’s pupils enlarged slightly and Wolf Woman felt a little pressure, but no pain. In fact, Raven’s presence in her mind was slightly soothing.

Then Raven took a deep breath and let it out, “Yes, Wolf Woman, you are telepathic.”

Wolf Woman was silent for a while, trying to take it in. “Wow, I am. What do you think I should I do? Do you think that I should learn how to use my telepathic powers?” Saying “my telepathic powers” sounded weird to her; since this was totally new to her she wasn’t sure of how to address it.

“Yes, I think that you should, though that’s really your decision. But if you do, the other telepaths here and I can help. It will take a while before you get really good at it, but I think that you can do it.”

“Thanks Raven, I think I’d like that.” Wolf Woman said.

They were both silent for a while, then Wolf Woman smiled and said, “Wanna go find some other friends to talk to with me, Raven?”

Raven smiled, “Sure.”

So they walked together, towards Grey Wolf, White Wolf, and a few others. Wow, so I am telepathic. It’s weird to think of myself that way. Then she silently prayed, “Thank-You, Father, for this new gift that You have given me. Please help me to use it for Your glory, and help me as I learn how to use it. Thank-you that we were able to stop the Legion of Doom’s plans to destroy us and to hurt many other people; without Your help our plan would not have worked. Thank-you for my friends and please help me to have a good time with them celebrating our victory, and help us to remember where we got this victory. I love You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

Wolf Woman decided to keep her telepathy a secret from everyone except the other telepaths, who would be teaching her. Someday the others would find out, but for now it would be a secret weapon that even most of the Super Friends didn’t know that they had.

She and Raven got over to their friends. Wolf Woman talked with them throughout the whole party, glad to be back among friends. She told them all about what had happened to her while she was captured (leaving out the part about her being telepathic) and then they told her what had happened while she was gone.

After a couple of hours, Julia went home and told her parents what had happened. Then she went upstairs to talk to Cassandra.

“Hi Cass,” Julia said, peeking through the door crack, “Can I come in?”

“Sure,” Cassie said, “but only if you’re going to tell me the truth.”

“What?” Julia said walking into the room. She sat on the floor while Cassandra sat on the bed, “What are you talking about?”

“You told me that you were going to a friend’s house because she was going through a hard time.” Cassandra said, “But then the Principle came up to me on Thursday and asked me how your work at the church was going. He said that Dad told him that you were baby-sitting younger kids at the church while the adults had a Bible study.”

Oh no! “Umm, the Principal must have heard Dad wrong,” Julia suggested.

“How could he get that out of ‘She’s spending some time with a friend who’s having a hard time’?”

“I don’t know,” Julia admitted.

“Well, since I know that you weren’t working at the church, Dad must have lied for you, but the question is, why would he lie about that? Then I ask myself, then was she really at a friend’s house at all? Then I ask myself, why is my sister lying to me?” As she said that last question, her voice cracked.

“Cassie,” Julia started, but then she stopped. She had no clue what to say. Should she tell her the truth? Or should she try to make up a great explanation. A Bible verse popped into her head, “Thou shalt not bear false testimony against thy neighbor.”

“Okay God,” Julia quickly prayed, “I’ll tell her. Please help her to understand!”

“Okay, Cassie.” Julia said, “You want the truth, so I’ll give you the truth. But first I need to say that I’m sorry about lying to you; I didn’t want to but I wanted to protect you. Knowing this secret might put your life in danger, and I don’t want to do that to you. But now I’ve also realized that by lying to you I’ve been sinning, and that by lying I hurt you. I just want to say I’m sorry and I hope that someday you’ll forgive me.”

“Go on.”

“Okay,” Julia took a deep breath and let it out, “Cass, I’m a Superhero.”

Hey Guys! I just posted the first part of chapter 12 of "The C.F.M.C.", but before you go and read that, I wanted to let you know that I just made a new blog for a new story that I'm working on (no, it has nothing to do with Superheroes) called "Songflight". Here's a quick exerpt from the story:

Kallar opened the door and stepped aside to allow Karn to enter first, then Hannah, and then Melissa. As she walked in, Melissa felt a significant change in temperature; it was a lot hotter inside than outside.

There were four young men standing around the dragon, using their combined mental strength to keep the young dragon in the middle unable to break his bonds. The power of the Slayers was in their minds; if a group of Slayers’ combined mind power is greater than a dragon’s they are able to weaken it, even kill it if they are strong enough.

The dragon they were guarding was a white, meaning it had the ability to breathe ice and was strengthened by cold temperatures. To further weaken it, fires had been lit all throughout the hut, heating the air till it was almost unbearable. I’m glad I’m not one of the men who has to stay in here, Melissa thought.

Just then the White Dragon looked up at her and its icy-blue eyes met her blue-grey ones. He almost seemed to plead with her, plead that she would aid his escape. "
Help me…Singer."

Melissa was taken aback; had the dragon just talked to her? How does it know my nickname? she wondered.

Karn jumped in front of his daughter, "Keep your evil eyes away from my daughter!" he boomed. The White Dragon lowered its head to the ground, weakened even more by the presence of an enhanced Slayer. Karn then turned to face his daughter, "What did the foul creature say to you, Melissa?" he demanded. "What did it say?"

"He asked me to help him," she said, still confused by the dragon’s plea.

Karn laughed and turned back to the dragon, "It’s so desperate that it would ask the daughter of Karn, the great leader of the Seaside Slayers, to help it! Foolish, cowardly lizard! You attack our kind, and yet you aren’t willing to face the consequences of your actions! Well, you will receive no help and tonight you will still die!" And with that, Karn led his family and Kallar out of the hut.

Kallar walked beside Melissa, "Now that you’ve heard the beast’s voice inside your head, can’t you feel how evil they are?" his brown eyes flashed with excitement.

"It didn’t feel evil," she almost whispered, "it felt like he was scared."

"And well he should be!" He shook his head slightly so as to get his raven-black hair out of his eyes. "I promise you, Melissa, that dragon will suffer tonight for entering your mind without your permission and trying to lead you astray!"

Melissa looked at the ground as she walked, she didn’t want it to suffer. More than anything she wanted to help the White Dragon to escape. But there was no way to do it, he would be guarded all day until the ceremony, and then he would be tortured and die. And all she could do was watch.

Hope that sparked your interest! If it did, go to the Songflight blog and read the first part of chapter one!!
