Abraham and Lot
Greetings, sisters in Christ!
I hope you have all been well.
The day before yesterday we were having Bible-time (we were talking about Lot and Abraham, how, when Abraham and Lot traveled together, their flocks and herds grew to large and the land was not big enough for both of their herds and flocks to eat, so their herdsman quarreled. Abraham settled it by saying telling Lot that if he chose to go to one land, Abraham would go to the other. Now, the land in the Jordan Valley was rich and fertile, but there dwelt the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Nontheless, Lot selfishly chose the 'best' and Abraham went into the mountains.) and mommy ask us a question "Are we really trying to be like God, dying to ourselves, and serving one another? Are you being like Abraham and letting others go first and not fighting for your 'rights'. Or are you being like selfish Lot who chose the best for himself?"
I really thought about that question afterwards. And, though I do not like saying it, I feel I should, that I am not like Abraham in many ways, but more like selfish Lot, not giving but taking. I felt ashamed and prayed to my God that he would help me be more like him, and to act in faith as Abraham did and let others have the best. I also prayed that he would help me to die to myself and not be so tempted to yell and give in to the impulse to be horrid!
Thank you for listening my dear friends!
I am so glad that you are all willing to hear my words and pray for me!
I really am truly blessed to have such dear friends!
*God Bless You*
