Gardening and such

Greetings fellow bloggers!

Do any of you garden? I do! We recently had our backyard landscaped and there is a lot of garden area. I spend a very good amount of my free time out there and sincerely enjoy it. I feel-while I care for my plants-that I am really caring for God's plants. The plants he blessed me with.

Isaiah 61:11
"For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations."

Isaiah 51:3

"Indeed, the LORD will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places and her wilderness He will make like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and sound of a melody."

I am truly blessed by the Lord! Already, flowers are turning to the beginnings of vegetables and fruits. Oh King of Kings! Lord of Lords! I shall praise Him all my days. He has given me a wonderful family,  a roof over my head, clothes to cover my body, and food to fill my stomach. Is that not enough? Yet He has given me so much more! I do not dare say I deserve it. It fills me with such happiness to know that we have a God that is so loving he sent his son to take away our sins! How could we ever say we deserve to even live?  Yet he loves us, and created us not because he was lonely, or because he needed some friends, but because he wanted to. And he wants us to love him too.
Are we loving him as he wants us to? Are we following his commands? Are we giving him our all?
I am striving to, though I cannot say that I am very successful.

God Bless You All!
He Loves You,

Easter...What do you look forward to?

Happy Easter!

Alas, those words come pouring out of our mouths with no meaning whatsoever. These days it seems like just another funny phrase that we can say. When someone says 'Happy Easter' what is it you are thinking of? Are you thinking about how much you can't wait to go on that egg-hunt and get some candy? Will you not get enough?! Are you thinking about how much you can't wait to have some lamb and salad and potatoes for dinner? Or are you thinking about how much you can make that holiday enjoyable for yourself and how much stuff you can get out of it. You just can't wait for that holiday to come up so you can have some fun. No!

I do not believe that God called us to celebrate his son dying on the cross and rising again so that we can get stuff. I believe that we should look forward to Easter because we realize that that is when our loving Lord, our Saviour, died on the cross to SAVE us, sinners.

Matthew 27:32-Matthew 28:10

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross. And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull), they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. And when they had crucified him they divided his garments among them by casting lots. Then they sat down and kept watch over him there. And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews." Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left. And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, "You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross." So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, 'I am the Son of God.'" And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" that is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, "This man is calling Elijah." And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. But the others said, "Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him." And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared too many. When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said "Truly this was the Son of God!"

There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him, among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb.

The next day, that is, after the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said, "Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, 'After three days I will rise.' Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, 'He has risen from the dead,' and the last fraud will be worse than the first." Pilate said to them, "You have a guard of soldiers. Go; make it as secure as you can." So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you." So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God rose from the dead and now lives in heaven!
How blessed we are to have a God who loves us so much that he sent his son to die for our sins! I shall strive to stay focused on the true reason we celebrate Easter Sunday.
God bless you!!
And Happy True Easter!

Abraham and Lot

Greetings, sisters in Christ!
I hope you have all been well.

The day before yesterday we were having Bible-time (we were talking about Lot and Abraham, how, when Abraham and Lot traveled together, their flocks and herds grew to large and the land was not big enough for both of their herds and flocks to eat, so their herdsman quarreled. Abraham settled it by saying telling Lot that if he chose to go to one land, Abraham would go to the other. Now, the land in the Jordan Valley was rich and fertile, but there dwelt the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Nontheless, Lot selfishly chose the 'best' and Abraham went into the mountains.) and mommy ask us a question "Are we really trying to be like God, dying to ourselves, and serving one another? Are you being like Abraham and letting others go first and not fighting for your 'rights'. Or are you being like selfish Lot who chose the best for himself?"

I really thought about that question afterwards. And, though I do not like saying it, I feel I should, that I am not like Abraham in many ways, but more like selfish Lot, not giving but taking. I felt ashamed and prayed to my God that he would help me be more like him, and to act in faith as Abraham did and let others have the best. I also prayed that he would help me to die to myself and not be so tempted to yell and give in to the impulse to be horrid!

Thank you for listening my dear friends!
I am so glad that you are all willing to hear my words and pray for me!
I really am truly blessed to have such dear friends!
*God Bless You*

Yes, Another Review

I have Reviewed another of Emma Leslie's novels. Here it is:

The Martyr’s Victory: A Story of Danish England

By Emma Leslie

http://www.salemridgepress.com/

Salem Ridge Press LLC
4263 Salem Drive
Emmaus, PA 18049

The Martyr’s Victory, by Emma Leslie, begins by introducing us to Egbert, a young frail Saxon living in the country of Mercia. He is continually scorned and laughed at by his family and the world. Resolving to run away and die in the woods, he meets an elderly monk who invites Egbert into the church’s realm of safety. Forsaking all he has ever known, Egbert follows the monk, Osric, to a new life at the monastery. There he learns to read, write, and copy the scriptures.

But danger arises as the savage Danes of the north threaten to destroy the monastery and all of Mercia. A meeting is held in the church and it is decided that six monks shall venture to the Danish lands bringing not only the seed of grain, but also the seed of truth found in the Word of God. Egbert wishes to come along but cannot, because he is too weak. Told that he, and several others, may join the party of six in about a year’s time, he is content to remain.

Upon arriving in Ea, an island in East Anglia, the six monks meet a young girl named Elswitha. They soon find out that she has just escaped from being sacrificed to Odin, their false god. Later in the village, Osric encounters a Danish warrior who has been drastically wounded in a single-combat battle and now believes that he is destined to die. As he is a skillful leech, Osric uses all in his power to work to cure the unfortunate Dane. Will he succeed? If he does succeed, will it help in saving Mercia from the warlike Danes? Will Osric’s faith impact the Danish people? And what will happen to Egbert? Find out in The Martyr’s Victory!

Emma Leslie, whose actual name was Emma Dixon, was a prolific Victorian children’s author. She wrote over 100 books; many of which are published worldwide. She was born in 1837 and lived in Lewisham, Kent, which is in southern England. She died in 1909 and was buried in St. Mary’s Parish Church, in Pwllcrochan, Pembroke, South Wales . Emma Leslie wrote with a strong Christian accentuation in her books, and encouraged us to fight for faith and believe in God always—no matter what the consequences. -Product review by Abigail K., The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, LLC, February, 2008

Two Novels I would be obliged to introduce to you!

Hello! Again I have read a most Fantastical novel written by my favourite authour, Emma Leslie! Her books are very uplifting and make me think about what I have been doing latelly and that people really did experience these hardships, but throughout everything, God rules all!

Saved by Love ...here is the description:  Elfie is streetwise, rebellious, and a liar. She is convinced that nobody could love her because her sin is too great. She meets Susie who finally convinces her that no sin is too great for God.

Tom Watkin's Mistake Tom Watkin is the son of a high and mighty mother who looks down upon her neighbors and thinks her family is to great to trouble with others of 'lower' class. Tom Works at a lumermill but when his master finds out he has been stealing, fires him and trouble for Tom arouses.

Both of these books are quite fantastic! I really hope you are able to read them. I sincerely recommend!!!

You might have some reviews from me soon as I shall be reviewing several novels for Salem Ridge Press once I'm done reading them!!

But now, I must go as it is getting late. Farewell and Goodbye!

Ummm, may I say...'Long time so see?"

I am dreadfully sorry that I have been so negligent with my blog duties! I have nothing much to discuss, sadly.
Though, I wish to ask, do any of you fine readers volunteer for the SPCA (or any other animal association) or do animal  foster care? If so may I also ask, how does it work, exactly? And can you recommend any Veterinary guide books or something along those lines (i.e. any animal learning type thing)? I want to be an Assistant Veterinarian when I grow up (if I ever do!) and now I am trying to learn as much as I can about the subject. Currently I have one dog and one cat, but would like to get another dog, yet that is most likely in the future!!

Now I must go, sad to say.
I wish I could talk more!
