Good Brother

Tinkerbell got a desk for her birthday from Nana and Bopa. With Brian gone, looking at a box full of pieces can set me into a panic! I am NOT mechanically inclined AT ALL! Thank God, my son is! He set to work putting it together after Tinkerbell went to bed, determined that when she woke up, she'd have her new desk!

The finished product, in Tinkerbell's room! You can see, Peanut did a fantastic job! Thank God he can do it...putting that together would have taken me a week!
Tea Party
Posted: 7:30 PM, Nov. 4, 2006
Tinkerbell wanted to have a tea party for her birthday. She invited 8 girls to come to a local tea store, and they had a great time!
The tea room had a "hat room" for the girls to try on hats if they wanted to.
Tinkerbell drinking "tea" (it was really strawberry lemonade).
Peanut was the camera man for the day!
They had scones, fruit and a cookie.

I love the look of concentration on his face!
It's almost cake time!

Group shot!
I'd say our Tinkerbell had a pretty great birthday!
Tinkerbell turns 10

Well, my baby turned 10 yesterday. Ten is a big deal in the military. That is the age they get their military ID card. Tinkerbell has looked forward to it since her big brother got his 3 years ago. She was sad that daddy wasn't here to take her, but I promised we'd send him pictures. I'm sure everyone thought we were crazy for taking pictures of this, but they were great about it. They even took Tinkerbell first since it was her birthday!
Outside the building, ready to go in!
As Tinkerbell put it, she got to sign her "grownup" signature!

The grin says it all!
Friends visit
Posted: 6:54 PM, Nov. 4, 2006
Our friends, the Feil family, came to visit from out of state! We haven't seen them in several years, so it was wonderful for us to have time catching up. Sonya and I have been friends since we were 15 years old. The kids all got along great and had a fantastic time!
We went to Knotts Berry Farm one day they were here, and ofcourse, that's always a big hit with the kids!
Kimmie and Tinkerbell
Peanut and Josh
Snoopy even came out for awhile!

Peanut's birthday
Posted: 9:48 PM, Oct. 28, 2006
Friday night we held a little family party for Peanut. Nana and Bopa came down to give Peanut their gifts, and we had cake from Baskin Robbins. It was a wonderful 13th birthday for him!
Peanut is a Green Bay fan, so Nana and Bopa got him a Packers blanket.
They also spoiled him rotten and got him an iPod Nano!
Reading the birthday card daddy sent.
Blowing out the candles on his cake!
Peanut and his cake!
My Peanut

It is so hard to believe, but tomorrow is my Peanut's 13th birthday. I don't feel old enough to have a 13 year old! For his birthday, Daddy and I gave him the choice of having a party with his friends, or taking a dirt bike class. He chose the dirt bike class. One of the wonderful parts of homeschooling is that we can do these things during the week and reap the benefits! If he had taken the weekend class, there would have been several other students. Today, it was just Peanut and the instructor, Bonnie. It goes without saying that he had a BLAST!
Bonnie going over the bike w/Peanut
Getting suited up
Learning to shift gears. Once that was mastered, there was no stopping him! I was quite impressed...he only popped the clutch twice!
Off and running!

Bonnie, the instructor, was WONDERFUL with Peanut. I found her through THIS website. If you live anywhere in SoCal, and are interested in learning to ride a bike, you really should give her a call. She was so patient with him, and they had a fantastic time!
All in all, it was quite a memorable day for my little Peanut. Although, I guess he isn't so little anymore. He'll always be my peanut, though! :)
Wacky Hair Night

Tuesday night was "Wacky Hair Night" at Tinkerbell's church group. I had so much fun doing her hair! :) My best style yet!
Can you see the horror??
Tink gets points for bringing a guest to class, so she invited her friend Breanna:

Soccer Day
Posted: 8:53 PM, Oct. 21, 2006
Peanut had a soccer game today, but not one referee showed up! So, the coaches had the kids play anyway, but it didn't count for standings.
Tinkerbell took a picture of Cheryl and I watching the game.

Here are some action shots of Peanut:

Tinkerbell's Science Report

Tinkerbell presented a science report on the sun to Peanut and me today.
Here she is reading her report to us.
Here she is explaining her illustration.

According to my children...

This is how I spend my day:

They seem to think that I am on the phone too much. Hmmm...do I dare tell them that it is for my sanity? (And for the record, I don't talk on the phone during school hours!)
This picture was Tinkerbell's attempt to "prove" I am on the phone too much. So, I said I'd take a poll. How often do you speak on the phone? Weigh in and help me out! :)
Random Thoughts...

It's been a tough day. I have so much to be thankful for, I know. Today was just one of those, "I am really missing my husband and I just want him here" kind of days. I miss the little things. Brian calling me from work asking me to bring him some lunch. Him waking me up in the morning to have coffee together before he leaves. Alyssa running out the door yelling, "DADDY" every day when he comes home. How he comes up behind me to give me a kiss on the neck while I'm cooking dinner. Putting my cold feet on him at night to get them warm, and hearing him yelp every single time I do it! I miss his sense of humor. I miss watching he and the kids dance together. I miss him leaving the bathroom sink a mess after he shaves. I miss hearing his woodworking tools going on the weekend. I miss hearing him and Shawn banter back and forth. I miss hearing the songs he makes up to wake the kids up in the morning. I just MISS it ALL. How could I be so silly as to think these deployments get easier? THEY DON'T!
My blessing for today? We have hit the half way point in the deployment. We have less time left than we did yesterday, and tomorrow is one day closer to homecoming. That thought is what keeps me going every day.
