Bathroom Make-over...$65.00!

Posted in House Makeover

Just got the last of the boxes out of the bathroom, so now I can finally post an AFTER pict. We still have some paint touch up as this was one of the last rooms we did.... to say we were running out of steam, is an understatement! We hope to gut this room and remodel it in a year or so, but this is a CHEAP, quick fix for the time being. DH is trying to adjust to NOT having a shower. Not me, I'm a bath person and LOVE THE CLAWFOOT! The whole transformation only cost aprx. $65.00! MIRROR $8.95 (bought at a thrift shop) , LIGHT $35.00 (ebay), PAINT $20.00 (including floor which we painted and then topped with polyurthane), We found the cupboard doors in the basement and the rest of stuff we already had.

Bathroom w/a View:  Our bathroom has a wonderful view of the park across the street. Kind  of wierd, you can watch people  having picnics or playing soccer while going to the bathroom!

A little tlc can go a long way. I had a clawfoot tub in our new house of 8 years. We found a guy who redid them. I wanted to take it with us when we moved but couldn't.

I am very impressed! I absolutely love the tub, and the size of your bathroom. Mine is more like a closet.

I would LOVE to have another claw foot tub-- they are wonderful. BTW, you can buy a shower attachment. Shane made the rod out of small diameter PVC pipe and attached it to the ceiling with small chain and hooks. Much more economical than those kits you buy and it works.

What a wonderful difference!!

(We have claw foot tubs at our house, too, and I just love them!!)

Thanks for sharing the photos -- I just love SEEING what people are doing. :o)

Very nice and cheap transformation. You have done very well with the whole house. I love claw foot tubs and would have all the froo froo around it too. You should have your hubby make some horderves for you, grab a glass of wine, lock yourself in the bathroom and enjoy the fruits of your hard work.

Oct. 24, 2006 - beautiful transformation

Wow, I'm impressed how inexpensively you transformed your bathroom. Our family is renovating our home, too, but a huge project, as every wall will be taken down soon. We're also reroofing, taking down electrical lines, relandscaping, more. A huge project. Pray for us, as it's cost a fortune, too expensive to hire-out, so we're doing it ourselves.
We have two little girls with heart transplants, so need to fix our home and remove any mold or mildew.

While every one else is focused on your tub and it's feet I'm wondering if the people across the street in the park can also see you when.... Years ago I visited a nephew and when I went to use the facilities I was startled to find a plate glass picture window right beside the toilet. If you've ever tired to sit on a toilet and hold a bath towel up against a window at the same time you can call yourself a gymnist! Whew!
be blessed,
Miss Meg

BTW...don't be afraid to paint your tub! I couldn't tell if you did paint the tub already, and just need to do touching up, or if you hadn't, so I am preuming. :o)

We also have a clawfoot bath, and there are these amazing shower converter kits you can buy for not very much. When we bought our house, DH was going nuts with no shower...we bought one, and have loved it! Do a search on shower converters. You won't be sorry!
