Oct. 6, 2007 - Full Scream Ahead
Posted in Skool

We're official now.
Back on track.
Rolling right along.

Ok, so it's more like full scream ahead.

But still...

I had a parent-teacher conference with my youngest student's mother.
Then a conference with the student.
We now have a game plan.

And a bribe reward system is in place.

Said student will earn this...:

...after one full week's worth of work.

That means doing ALL assigned work,
AND with no attitude,
concentrating on the subjects that said child does not like and has gotten behind on.

"Well, what about Monday? I couldn't do my work Monday since you made us go with you to run errands."

"No problem. Next Monday will be Day 5. You can have it after your work is done....

Unless you want to do school Saturday. Heh, heh."

So today she'll do her school work.
Today is Saturday.
That kid never wants to do school stuff on Saturday.

Ok.
So she outsmarted me on that one.

But I win since she was gonna get the Treasure Chest, anyway....

Right??

That sounds SO much like two of my boys!!! Can't possibly do school on the weekends, or in the evenings; and blaming ME for work they didn't do. LOL Very cool prize though, I'd want that for myself. ;~)

Blessings,
Kym

Last Tuesday I called one of General Mayhem's friends and arranged with the friend's mother to ship off the General to thier house for the weekend. The result? We had one week of stellar academic and behavioral performance topped with a Friday morning where all work was completed by noon. He even cleaned parts of the house...get this...without complaint! Amazing!

I think I'll cross-stitch that excuse for a wall hanging I hear it so often! How come their lack of discipline somehow always becomes our fault???

The first story in my last post wasn't "mine" in that it didn't happen to me, but it was related by a mom at one of my home school meetings several years ago.
My kids have never been in school, so thankfully, Ive never had to take them out!! I don't like conflict.

Does it make you feel any better that your post made me feel better since I deal with that kind of stuff ALL OF THE TIME? Hmmm...didn't think so, but misery does love company, so I may come read this very post daily.

hmm idk seems sorta harsh. "ALL assigned work, AND with no attitude"?? I am usually only good for one or the other! :)

In our home, if you have attitude, you go to bed at 8pm vs. 9pm. This is a HUGE deal and you would think that I had told them to walk the ends of the earth or something. It is so funny to see, but for us it works. Good thinking and the parent/ teacher conference thing just cracked me up!
