May. 28, 2008 - The Weekend

It's been a bit hectic around here lately. But then again, isn't that a common refrain for a homeschooling family?

Just to back up a few days....

Saturday we celebrabrated my youngest child's birthday. She turned 12. Do you have any idea how rough it is to know your baby is 12?
That means next year she'll be a teenager.
My baby.
*sigh*
Thankfully, she's not trying to grow up too fast:

And I never know what she'll want to do on her birthday:
*We've done parties with kids.
*Just family to see a movie. The interesting thing about living so far out in the woods is that going to a movie IS a big deal. We live an hour away from a theater....
*To the zoo in Panama City (Hey! She had broken her arm that year and that zoo is 2 hours away...).
*Chuck E. Cheese's (which I lovingly refer to as "Romper Room on Acid").

So this year?
She wanted family and friends that are like family to come and hang out.

I thought kebabs on the grill sounded great!

But it was a bit time consuming to get them ready, so I called in the Marines.
I love to call in the Marines!Look how good he is! And he grilled them, too!

We had a wonderful time but the very best moment for me was seeing this:Proof that they're not always fussing!

Is that a new dog or just a newly decorated dog?

Is that a real dog on your table?

Happy b'day to your youngest! My oldest turns 12 this year, and it makes me feel weird too....especially since I'll be about to give birth to a new one.

aww, happy birthday to your daughter! Wow, that must be tough...12...that's a great age though. She's at the age where for the next at least six years you can make her slave for you. :) Heh!

I am SO glad you loved PC! I feel like a C.S. Lewis missionary or something, converting you to the book and movie! :P

Oh, I know...I think everyone could relate to Peter. I actually always did relate to Peter more than any other character--especially in the first film--think it's the whole older sibling thing. lol. Then this movie, and I was amazed. It scared me how much I could relate. Interesting how we can see it in everyone else--even fictional characters--but not ourselves. It was kind of a humbling experience for me...same with Lucy following Aslan. I used to think the other books were all so blatantly spirtual, and this one not so much...but the more I read/watch, the more I see maybe this is the MOST spirtual one. At least it "spoke" to me.

What a great cake! It sounds like you have a fabulous time.

Gosh. Twelve. I'm not there with my oldest son yet. It's going to go fast, isn't it?
