Jul. 28, 2007 - Scary night last night.... |
Last night we went to my mom's house to celebrate Meela's birthday. On the way home a guy came out of a one way street the wrong way. As we got closer he darted out further in front of us and dh put on the brakes but we slid (it was raining) and we hit him. The police came (we waited FIFTEEN minutes for them to show up!) and the guy got a citation on the spot. Bear hit her head and since she has epilepsy we had to go to the hospital in the ambulance. Natalie was fine...babies are sometimes protected in these circumstances.I was told it is because they don't stiffen up so they don't always get hurt. Thank the Lord. Meela hit her nose and it is swollen today but the hospital said it wasn't broken. Boo had a little seatbelt burn and Tink was fine.
Scary...and to top it all off the van can't be driven because the front end is smashed in and the fan can't go on to cool the engine.
I am thankful that noone was hurt. So very thankful I can't even put it into words.
I am thankful that Matthew was at my mom's so noone had to double up with the seatbelts.
I am thankful that we were protected....
So, now on to dealing with insurance companies, rental cars, etc....
such is life....

Hello,
Praising God that you are all safe!
I just wanted to make you aware that your child carseats and your vehicle seat belts should all be replaced after an accident (...even a minor one!) as they are meant to be 'one time use only' items.
In most cases, the insurance of the 'party at fault' will cover the expense.
For more information, please visit
http://www.car-safety.org/
There are many car-seat technicians on the forums there to help you out. I am hoping to become a tech by the end of the year, and so if you have any questions you can also contact me on my blog, and I will try to help you out to the best of my ability. ( I just want to keep our precious little ones safe!)
Here is a previous post on my blog that I mad about Child Passenger Safety. Please watch it if you have the time!
