• Jan. 19, 2008 - ...goodbye...

Well, since it looks like I will no longer ever be homeschooling my niece and nephew...and it will be quite a few years until "Sir" Wyatt is ready I will be switching to myspace...

It's been a lot of fun here and I have made some really good friends...if you want to continue to read my blogs email me and when I get the page set up the way I want it I will send you an invite to be on my friends list (so you can view the page)

goodbye...

• Jan. 14, 2008 - already?

Well, this Sat. Wyatt will be turning 1. I will actually have a child with a "year old" attached to his age! I can't believe it!

This year  has flown by...so many things have happened that I can't even begin to tell them all.

And, to commemorate it, this Sat my house will be full of little kids screaming and making a mess; or worse not be filled with kids screaming and making a mess and the party will be a complete flop. Either way, Sir Wyatt will be getting the "ever so coveted" bouncy zebra toy that all the preschool sect have been talking; er babbling about!

I'm sure it will be fine and Wyatt will have a blast!(Or at least as much of a blast as a one year old can have...)

I had to remove the link to my pics...mainly because it was really old and I haven't added pictures in like, 6 months! But also because someone posted a picture from there on a message board which is something I would rather NEVER happen again... if you want to see newer pics of my sweet, sweet boy just email me and I will send you out a link...but onlly if I know you. I'm sure you will forgive me if I don't hand out inks to strangers anymore...

• Dec. 23, 2007 - My big boy...

Well, Wyatt's first Christmas is coming up really fast and I think I am actually ready for this one...now if I can scramble after Christmas to prepare both mentally and money-wise for the first birthday remains to be seen!

We had the annual family Christmas party on Friday night. Everyone had a really good time. Wyatt was a bit on the shy side; I think because there are so many of us and most of the family is a complete stranger as far as he is concerned. I had several people tell me that he needs more "socialization" because he was so shy. I am not exactly sure what was meant by that...I mean how social can an eleven month old be, anyway?

I was asked if he went to the  nursery at church. To which I said he would; you know if we had a nursery at church! And was told that he needed to "socialize" more with people his own age because "when we homeschool he won't get the social interaction that he needs" Hello? I am just not quite sure I want my 11 month old surrounded by other babies so that he can catch every cold that is going around.

I do still plan on sending hime to pre-k 3 and 4 at the local Baptist church because I am just not quite sure I have the patience to teach him how to read! But as far as socialization goes...well for now he is just going to have to be an unsocialized baby with his first Christmas to look forward to and nothing else!

• Dec. 6, 2007 - The Golden Compass

A lot of talk has been going around about this particular book/movie so I thought I would get the audio book and find out for myself.

Yes, the book was in fact written by an athiest. Did that stop me from wanting to read it? No. It might have, had the fact not been put forth quite so much for me to examine. In fact, the movie would probably had opened and closed with little or no fan fare as far as I am concerned if nothing were said about it.

The fact is people want to see the movie because they are being told not to. It's a fact of life. It is our sinful nature to want to do that which we were told not to do. This started in the garden and still continues to this day.

Do I feel that Christians should go see the movie? Yes and no. I feel that for teens and adults it might be turned into a learning event. A time to really examine your relationship with God and see what people who don't believe actually feel about the church and God. Or at least this person.

Also, since starting to listen to the book, I have found blatent misuses of certain terms. For example, "deamon" and "Bishop". Having a teen read the book and than look up what these terms really mean might help them understand why athiest are where they are. (misunderstanding of God and the church)

Now, I realize that this opinion will probably get a lot of people angry but I will repeat my original stand on this...I feel the book/movie might be good for teens and adults...I would in no way support taking a small child or new believer to it as it could confuse the quite a bit. I also would encourage parents to read the book before deciding whether or not your child's faith is strong enough to read it themselves.

I am just not quite sure I want someone telling me what I and my child should read and watch. Especially when the person doesn't even know us.

• Nov. 4, 2007 - first Halloween...

Well, we managed to make it through Wyatt's first Halloween with relatively few hitches...unless you count getting lost in a subdivision for, say 30 minutes a hitch! LOL I console myself by saying the kids got more candy that way.

Wyatt is growing like a little weed and Nicole made the A honor role at school. Daniel is doing better in school, but after 2 years in private school still hasn't managed to work out all the "kinks" in his mind yet. I am sure he will pull through all of this a stronger person because of it but some days it is all I can do not to just go get him and start homeschooling him again. After all, he was doing so well in HS. His writing had improved as he got more confidence, he soared ahead in math, etc, etc...but none of this will change his parents decision to have him in private school for the time being...so I just pray a lot.

Other than that, not really much has changed...we did finally manage to catch Osama BinRaten and set him free so now my house is blissfully rat free again.

At Wyatt's last exaim, he scired right at 50% in height, just below 50% in weight and a whopping 90% in head size! (But apparently that's ok because he always had a big head!LOL)
