Our Little Homeschool

Mar. 26, 2006 - Update - sorry I've been missing
Posted in Homeschooling

Boy, who'd a thunk March would be so busy for me?  And when I'm so busy and don't take notes, the end of the month comes and I'm left asking myself, "Where did the month go? What did I spend my time doing?"  And since I didn't blog through it, I really don't remember... (Signs of aging!...)

Anyway, last night was our homeschool co-op end-of-unit Sock Hop (Tapestry of Grace, Year 4, Unit 3, approximately 1950-1975, included 1950's and we made the '50's the theme for our end-of-unit celebration!).  My daughter and I each made poodle skirts for the occasion, shopped at thrift stores to find genre-appropriate sweaters to wear with the skirts, raided my jewelry left me by my grandmother and my husband's aunt and grandmother, and dressed up in penny loafers and bobby socks, pony tails and poodle skirts...  I don't have any photos of myself, but I can post a photo of my skirt and a photo of my daughter in hers, as soon as I get them downloaded to my computer.

My other daughter came for the event from college (25 or so miles away) and brought a friend, and my 6 year old went as a 50's 6-year-old, in a cowboy outfit with the hat and a vest, stick horse and popgut (provided by college-sis).  Dad went as dad.  Jeans always look like jeans, right?  A fun time was had by all.

6 yo has a cold, though, so I'm home from church with him right now.  Well, guess I should get off the computer for a bit and do motherly things for a few.  Blessings!

D

So glad you're joining... however, just wanted you to know that this is my sixth I'm expecting... plus I have a step-son, so we have a full, little house in desparate need of organization, not to mention the heart issues that go with it!

So glad you're joining in... and we will have a few days outside as well!
Blessings,
Amy

Mar. 27, 2006 - Off topic, but needs to be said...
Posted by DandelionSeeds
I am sending out a "mass apology" to everyone I told about "The Clean Heart, Clean Home Challenge". I have received some comments in regard to leaving the button on people's blogs and I feel the best way to make sure there aren't others who are offended, is to apologize to those I sent the notice to.

I feel just horrible that some thought I was "advertising" in some way when my intention was to share with other homeschoolers what I was offering as encouragement and a way for us to join together.

If you are one who was upset by my post, please feel free to delete it and email me or leave a comment on my page and I will personally apologize. To those who have joined in The Challenge, I'm so looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us and hope we will all be able to bless our families and grow in the Lord through it! Thank you most importantly for seeing my heart. I never meant to disregard anyone's post when I left the comment about the Challenge, and want you all to know that anything you ever have to say to me, whether on topic or not, is more than welcome on my blog. I will also be making a new category on my blog that will list those of you who don't mind getting urgent prayer requests or information from time to time. I hope this way I will be able to avoid upsetting anyone similarly in the future.

Thanks for allowing me to comment on your blog. I hope you will accept my apology (and not be upset that I'm "off topic" from your post, but I have many people to get to still tonight).

In Him,
Amy Verlennich
