Our Little Homeschool

Aug. 26, 2009 - My Flylady Days
Posted in FlyLady

Summer is coming to a close, and some of my responsibilities that have been distriacting me outside of my home as well.  My (deceased) mom's house is finally fixed, cleaned, and on the market. Renovations to my own house are (almost) finished. Time to et back into the swing of things.

Trying to work towards a more normal working schedule for my home and homeschool.

Flylady Mondays include:

  • dust all surfaces
  • sweep/mop/vacuum
  • empty all trashes;
  • change sheets
  • clean mirrors, sliding door, major windows,
  • declutter weekly periodicals

...need to check and see if that is all.  Then there are the Flylady "daily"s.

Morning routine:

  • make bed(s)
  • morning shower and such; swish and swipe bathroom;
  • feed the critturs;
  • start the coffee; make the breakfast;
  • unload dishwasher, breakfast, vitamins. Check calendar;
  • eat the breakfast; quiet time; then rouse, feed, and do Bible time with my boy;
  • a load of laundry started;
  • make sure dinner plans have been re-booted.

Later in the day routine:

  • Look at or create "To Do" list;
  • homeschool;
  • hit the hot spots (load the breakfast dishes; clear "hot spot" surfaces;
  • lunch and recess break/ email, phone calls;
  • homeschool in afternoon/ any appointments for the day

After homeschool:

  • Clean up school area;
  • make sure everything's on hand for dinner;
  • some mom "craft time"
  • start dinner

Bedtime routine:

  • Leave kitchen clean with dishes loaded, dwasher running, coffee set up, counters wiped, sink shined;
  • brush teeth, get dressed for bed;
  • snuggle in and read, or do computer or watch movie while knitting or crocheting.

So, anyway, I got the sheets changed. I had to major clean my bathroom, because it had been ages... I pretty much have to dry mop the hardwood every day because of the dogs. I've been able to keep up with the dishwasher and coffee every night, but still need to remember to wipe down surfaces.

Majorly, I have boxes to unpack and declutter.  We had hardwood put in last week, and everthing was boxed and removed from the rooms. Now the boxes need to be unpacked. Realistically, a lot of the stuff that got packed needs to be thrown away, given away, or put away. In other words, when we packed up there were piles that should have been dealt with that were just packed. Now they need to be dealt with.

Anyway, time to get on with my day. I got the breakfast/coffee part done, but not the bed made part, nor the shower, nor the quiet time, nor the dishwasher, etc. Gotta get moving.

Feb. 25, 2006 - My FlyLady/General Workday
Posted in FlyLady

So I am back from my family outing of bowling. It was fun. I hate that I have to be forced to stop working and forced to go have fun... Maybe when I get more caught up I won't have to feel that way...

Anyway, here's how my day is shaping up, another word for things done, things in the works today:

--bed made, dishwasher unloaded, email checked, breakfast eaten (normal dailies)

--exercised. I said I EXERCISED!  Yes, this is a big deal for me. Then I showered. (unfortunately I have to let you know, here, that getting a shower in every day is not something I am always priviliged to do right now, but I am working on it.)

--Went bowling with hubby, dd and ds.

--Menu planned; created shopping list. Hubby is shopping with son; daughter went to a movie. (Yea, hubby!  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!)

--Finally down in the basement surrounded by  my piles. Beginning work on basement for about an hour.

--Dinner plan: Chicken, rice and brocolli. Not sure which chicken recipe I'm going to use, probably something from the Body Clutter Menu Mailer (http://savingdinner.com/menu_mailer/body_clutter_mm_order.htm).

--After dinner, son to bed, time with hubby.

So, that's today. Hope all is going well for all of you.  I am working towards morning quiet times, but right now that happens in the evenings.  Not as quality right now, as I am sharing the bedroom when I am trying to QT...

Blessings,

Diana

Feb. 23, 2006 - My Flylady days
Posted in FlyLady

So, while I'm catching up I thought I'd put in a few Flylady blurbs.  Yesterday my Flylady tasks accomplished:

--emptied dishwasher

--vacuumed the main floor

--made the bed

--cleaned the bathroom

--shined the sink 3 times

--got dinner on the table

--two loads of laundry washed, one old one put away, one load left in dryer, one load left in washer.

Considering all that we juggle, that was pretty good.  So here was my Flylady day today:

--made bed

--swished and swiped master bathroom, including shower/tub

--emptied dishwasher

--tackled Mt. Washmore (put away laundry off my dresser)

--laundry out of dryer; next load into dryer

--decluttered papers from my dresser

--dinner is planned.

So, why when we declutter do things sometimes look worse than when we started?  My papers went from two piles on my dresser to 12 piles on my bed!  Well, time to get it cleaned up, get dinner started, and wrap up a book that sold on the internet.

Blessings!

Feb. 15, 2006 - Today's FlyLady goals
Posted in FlyLady

On Mondays FlyLady does her "Weekly Blessing Hour". Well, for me it is a "weakly" blessing hour.  It becomes a goal for things to get done sometime ...this week...  or next week even...

Anyway, I am going to try to click off a couple of the weekly blessing hour items today, plus a few dailies.

1) empty all trash cans

2) vacuum

3) mirrors

4) dusting

The further I get into the list, the less likely it is to get done.  Also today I need to do:

1) unload dishwasher

2) do a few loads of laundry

3) homeschool son

4) shuttle dd from metro to apptment, then from apptment to home

5) fix stew for dinner; serve with rolls, salad?

Done so far:

1) made bed

2) shuttled dd#2 to class

3) started to unload dishwasher, but re-ran it cause the soap was still there from last night, so it must not have run right.

Jan. 25, 2006 - My FlyLady Day
Posted in FlyLady

Here are the things from the Flylady calendar for today.  I am putting a box beside each item which I will fill in when I have done it:

Morning Routine:

1. Get up and weigh-done
2. Shower and get dressed to lace up shoes, fix your hair and face-never got the shower; don't fix face
3. While you are in the bathroom Swish and Swipe-manana
4. Grab a load of laundry and start the washer-done
5. Check your calendar for today's activities-done
6. Empty dishwasher to start your day-done
7. Eat something good for you and take your medicine and vitamins-ate, but no vitamins
8. Drink your water. -worked on it, but didn't get in six glasses

Shine your sink!-done

Today is Anti procrastination day! --work on filing loose papers.  Balance check books.-balanced check books.

Evening Routine:

1. Lay out your clothes for tomorrow-still don't do this
2. Take a few minutes for yourself -not sure if I did this
3. Check your Calendar for Tomorrow's Events-didn't do this
4. Spend 2 minutes clearing off your Hot Spots-manana
5. Shine your sink-done (needs work since paint brushes were cleaned in it, but since we are not done painting I can't see doing the full Flylady shine)
6. Wash your face, moisturize, brush your teeth and floss-did brush and floss, not wash and moisturize
7. Go to bed at a decent hour-oops! If I had done this I wouldn't have gotten the checkbooks balanced...

This week's mission: Master Bedroom

Today's mission:

Today is the day to get rid of the dust in your bedroom. Dust the walls and the ceilings. Have you ever noticed how the dusties seem to creep up the walls? LOL! Then grab a dust cloth and dust the flat surfaces of your furniture as well. You will be so surprised at how much dusting you can get accomplished in 15 minutes.

Since I haven't been tackling the previous assignments, I will actually be working on clearing surfaces. ---Manana
