Day out with our Daughter
We took our daughter out to celebrate her 13th birthday today. We went to the mall to look for an Easter dress. We found one in this little Native Indian shop. It was so sweet, soft pink sun dress with buttons all down the front and hand work sewn down the front. She looked beautiful in it. We picked up a shirt to wear underneath it and it really completed the outfit. We browsed around the rest of the mall and picked up a few other things and she turned to us and said after about and hour and a half "I'm all shopped out!" She is so like her mother. That was long enough for her. We went to Applebee's for lunch then home.
We are watching a movie tonight called "The Express" the Ernie Davis Story. Football movie, of course, He was the first African American to win the Heisman. It is real good so far.
The boys are not to impressed that their little sister is growing up so fast. She was granted the most exciting thing for her birthday by her dad... MAKEUP. But the first time it is done distastefully she loses it. I got her brown tones so they would blend with her coloring in stead of black and she had it on tonight when Ryan showed up and finally I drew his attention to it and he said "Wow, I never even noticed" I said that is because she applied it well! Good for her. If she ever gets interested in a guy I pity him! He will have a long row to hoe before he ever passes inspection. That just makes our job easier! (Not really)

Monday
That should say it all!! Grocery Shopping sums it up as well!!
Actually at the tail end of my shopping experience today was a bright spot. I landed at the bread store to pick up bread-duh! and while there, there was a buy 2 get one free deal, anyway the lady working there was replacing the bread that I picked up with fresh stuff and wasn't keeping track of what she had rung in and what she hadn't. Well in the end I was supposed to get another item free so I went to pick up a bagel pkg. and came back and she gave me my total but I knew it was supposed to be more than that so I asked her to check to make sure she rang everything in. She was sure that she had but checked anyway and come to find out, she had missed 2 pkgs of bread. She thanked me for being honest," cause you know there aren't very many honest people around". She then began to go on about the state of the world and her concern for all the evil going on in our government, and ended with" I think it is about time for "The Man upstairs" to come down and take us all home to be with Him! I said "Ma'am I couldn't agree with you more, I hope you have a nice day!
You never know when you can bless someone's heart just by doing the right thing. I thank the Lord for that opportunity and also thank my parents for raising me to always do the right thing!
We are taking Lynsey on her birthday shopping trip tomorrow because the weather is supposed to be nasty on Wed. She is excited about that, she is in dire need of some nice church clothes. It is amazing how quickly they grow out of things.
We have lost almost all of our snow around here. You can see big grass patches all over the fields. I love it!! Kyle was bumming though because he was supposed to go snowmobiling with his friend tomorrow but can't due to lack of snow. He said "I think I am done for this year."
Well I guess that is all for now.

Mozz. Cheese
Well I did get to make a batch of cheese today which was very cool!! It was very easy and I am sure the more I do it the better at it I will be. I will be doing it again.
this was the beginning when it was just milk warming up
If you look close you can see it starting to separate as I stirred it. I forgot to take a pic as I separated the whey and the curd. Sorry, I was so concentrating on stretching it and getting out all the whey I didn't take another pic till it was all done.
this was my final result. It looks like mozz. cheese, tastes like it, It must be it.!! If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck!! I am sure I will perfect the technique as I do it more but not bad for the first try. I know I have to work on the consistency of the whey, I think I left it to milky this time. Oh well. It is what it is.

Cheese Making Day- Maybe
Well I went to visit my Mom and Dad yesterday and she has been talking to a woman at her church about how great it would be if I made cheese since I have all the milk I want to work with. When I got there yesterday Mom told me she had someone dropping off all the instructions and a starter kit so I could get started. I guess now I have to right! They say I can make my own mozz. cheese in 45 min. I do use alot of mozz. so I guess if it isn't too hard I will give it a go.
We are hopefully going to warm up to possibly 50 degrees this week end! I am so excited. I can not wait till the snow leaves and the grass starts to turn green. I love that time of year- a new beginning.
We are watching this little sweetheart this morning so her Mom and big brother can go to the dentist. What little girl doesn't like a fluffy pink boa!!
Well I guess that is all for this morning. I will try to post some pics if I get my cheese done.

Still tampering with the new page
Ok ladies that frequently check my site, are you still having trouble viewing everything? I deleted the pictures that seemed to big so I hope that was all that was troubling your viewing because if it was not that I am not sure what to do next. I have changed the font so Mom can read it better as well.
Piano with Lynsey went great! Her teacher is really amazed at the progress she has made this year and the eagerness with which she works on her songs. I am so spoiled by her playing, I love to hear her flip through the hymn book picking out songs. I pray the desire to serve the Lord with her talent always stays uppermost in her mind.
Our hens are "warming" up to the idea of spring, they are popping out the eggs like crazy, we were down to around 6-8 eggs a day but they now are poppin out 15 or so a day.
Well I guess that is all for now. WOW two posts in one day. What up with that!

March 4
Well we had a great time out last night with our pastor and his wife. We went to Chinese- Yummy- my favorite. They are expecting their second child after miscarrying 2 they had pretty much given up on having any more. What a blessed surprise to learn they were expecting. There other daughter is 15, can you imagine, they are so excited to see what God has in store for them. She is due in about a month. While we went out our daughters stayed home together and made their own supper. Take a look
Didn't they do a great job! It looks yummy. They also took some video, where they pretended to be on their own web show. Like ICARLY if you have ever seen that on T.V. It was really cute. They are very imaginative.
It was -1 this morning when I got home from the barn, we had a calf born out on the calving pack just before Dennis and Tyler got there this morning at 2:30. He was toasty warm under the heat lamp when I got there.
We are headed to piano lessons this morning. One week from today-----is Lynsey's 13th birthday!!! What happened to my baby! She is growing up so fast. She is doing this devotional right now called "Every teen girls little pink book" It is about how to be the daughter God wants you to be. It is really great.
Well must go.

Alright Not sure what is going on
Ok ladies, I am not sure what is going on when you get onto this page because when I look at it it is laid out fine. I deleted the bigger pics to see if that was it so I hope that works for you.
I am not looking forward to venturing outside because of the cold wind but I need to run to the bank and a few other errands. I keep telling myself to suck it up, you live in Maine but that doesn't seem to be working anymore.
There I made this pic smaller because I didn't want to get rid of it. l love it because it is the real Dad not some made up face.
We did get some cleaning done yesterday and it did feel good but... I don't think it is going to jump start spring as I hoped. We got the kitchen and the dining room done yesterday. I think those are the worst rooms because they are so close to the stove.
Well my boy is up and going and wants some breakfast so I will let you go.

Wow here is something new....
SNOW!!!! I think all of our snow storms have come on Sunday into Monday all winter. It is supposed to dump another foot on us today. I can't feel to bad though because before this came the last snow had melted down enough so I could see big patches of my lawn. There was hope!!
Wow the wind is really whipping out there, I feel bad for my hubby and the boys, they are out doing chores early so they don't have to be out in it later when it is to be worse. I got all my stalls cleaned out early as well. I now have to figure out what to serve them for breakfast for they will be coming in soon and wanting something warm.
I think Lyns and I will begin washing down the walls today, maybe if I start my spring cleaning that will jump start spring into coming?? With a woodstove our walls tend to get a little smokey so the dreaded chore of washing everything down, no one enjoys.
Well i guess I better go before my hungry crew comes in.

Great Day with my Parents
Yesterday was my parents 61st wedding anniversary so we went up today to spend some time with them. That is always a hoot. We can't always get all the kids together at the same time but they all were excited about going to see them. Our son Kyle, (tends to be the sensitive one where his grandfather is concerned) called them without any prompting from his mother to wish them H. A. he then called me and told me " I think I made Grampie cry but I am not sure." I told him " He was just touched that you thought to call" My men can be so sensitive!! I love it.
Here is the happy couple now! I tried taking pics when they don't know it because my Dad always has to make a face and ruin it.
Everyone was patiently waiting for lunch to cook and just shooting the breeze which turned into alot of hot air. Gramp had to get his old time records out so they could listen to them. I think Tiptoe through the Tulips was on during this pic. That is Tyler on the left, Dennis in the middle, Ryan to the right and Kyles knee in the foreground. Kyle was actually video taping when they didn't know it. You get much better pics that wayPretty good looking young fella don't you think? He is 83 now and still going strong! Of course he has a blue shirt on, for those of you who don't know my Dad you rarely see in in any other color but blue.
Well we had a great time today and I hope to be writing next year telling you they have added another year to the tally.

New blog page
Well I have had to start a new page because I forgot the password to the old one and I changed browsers on my computer and for some reason I lost all the saved passwords.
Well life here on the farm has been a bit slow this winter. We just came through a snow storm where it dumped on us 16 inches
We are going to get rain tomorrow and then this weekend they are calling for more snow. I was so looking forward to an early spring but I guess I have to remember that I live in Maine!! We are going to keep getting snow even when we don't want it.
We are busy with cows calving right now, we have 4 overdue and will probably get their shots this afternoon to start them into labor. Just like at the hospital ladies. Even the animals need help once in a while.
Kyle is loving the snow with his new snowmobile. He just loves to come down and tear through the field at a high speed so I will ream him out when he comes in. Does that sound familiar Mom! I guess all sons do that at one time or another just to get a rise out of their moms.
yes there is the beauty! It has cost him a pretty penny but I suppose it could be worse things he is spending his money on.
Lynsey is painting an old mirror for her room this afternoon. Every girl needs a big mirror in their room. Maybe this will mean that she won't be in the bathroom so long! Probably not! I have to time my Sunday mornings just right so she and I will be up and showered before they are home from the barn. Sometimes it doesn't work out so well. When she decides to straighten her hair, well lets just say don't be in to much of a hurry. At least 45 min. that is on a good day.
Well I have to send this off to the printer!! I will try to be better at updating Aunt Glenna!
