Please Find A Family For Me...

Posted in Homeschool stuff and ENCOURAGEMENT

We got letters from our children yesterday and the day before. We got quite a few each. The children are really getting into writing back and forth. Some of their friends are taking a chance and writing us too- asking us to please not forget them, to write them, and to please ask people we know if they would adopt them and give them a family.
Ordinarily this might be overwhelming, but we are learning through seeing the suffering of these children to be less selfish. Getting a letter pleading for help? This isn't more than I can handle. It might have been at one time, but I am learning to trust the Lord and not regard my own feelings so much. Including feelings of discomfort, discouragment, or of feeling inadequet. (sp?)

This is a letter from one of the boys at Shepherd's Village. He is a friend of Joe or Prince (David), not sure which as he forgot to write the name down.

Word for word:

I love music. I love to sing song of praises to God. Mom_ told me to write you people. He is my friend. I want for you to please help me find some family for me. It is my prayer that God will bless me with a Family who will have a desire to adopt me to be part of their family.
During the war in Liberia my parent was kille. The war brin lot of difficulty to i and my brothers and sisters. We was not having any one to help us but God took care of us. After the war my uncle took me at mission in 1998. Since that, i have been praying that God will provide me a family. I will pray for you and the rest of the family in my prayer please pray for me too. I hope to hear from a family that you are the one that told them about me. mom you can please give our director phone number to the family you find for me to call if they want to talk with me.
May God bless you all and hope to see you one day.

You can write this boy if you like. All the children there love letters and love to write back if you will send a bit of paper and self addressed, stamped return envelope for them. They can send the letters home with missionaries and visiting adoptive families.

If you are interested in adopting or more information regarding the adoption of these beautiful children, or just writing them and mantaining contact and giving them encouragment and hope, then by all means contact the Zackey family of Children Concerned. They are wonderful, and really love these children.

Even maintaining a long-distance penpal relationship is something for these children. My own children write letters to about 6 of these children now. Now they are learning to love as Jesus does, and embrace children of a different contry and culture and difficult circumstance. This is what they do instead of sit in front of the TV or gameboy.
