Update for Jen Ig ")

Posted in Homeschool stuff and ENCOURAGEMENT

I update my homestead blog, but not usually this one.

Apparently that is bugging certain people ") he he. I like that.

I will mention that my family got to meet Bill and Diana Waring recently. They are pretty cool! I got the WWW book 3 Unit study for next year. I love the way she teaches and explains different learning styles, etc. They love the Lord so much and always emphasize the Biblical Worldview in teaching and learning.

Can you believe I will have 6 kids?? Three of them will be English as a Second Language (ESL). Yikes. Somebody help me!

Patience is 10 and just recognizing the alphabet letters and learning their sounds. Doug works on phonics with her, and I do handwriting, Draw Write Now books, read alouds (currently Beatrix Potter) and crafts, manners, and home type stuff. Doug does Bible and Character with us all when he's home.

I also get alot of help from Ruth Beechick books. Very common-sense, which is a relief to me. She's so very educated and yet maintains that the Bible is the plumbline- truth in every situation and that the best way to learn is the old-fashioned way. There's always something good from her in TOS. That's the first thing I look for in every issue, then of course it's Jen's articles.

Speaking of TOS- Gena was right, it will take a long time to get through this issue! It's totally packed! I found so much in there I will need a vacation to be able to read and digest it all. Very helpful and inspiring for us bedraggled end-of-the-year moms. Great job TOS!

If you don't subscribe to this magazine yet, you should! It's not just good reading, there's actually alot of material in there to use to teach. Draw Write Now pages, unit studies, health & nutrition, and the articles are from the cream or the crop in the homeschooling community- and that inclued the Show N Tell section where average families share their methods and lifestyles, stories, and pictures. Much more, too much to list! Like I said, the latest issue is absolutely packed.

You met the Waring's? I'm so jealous! I have always loved her books and tapes. I really wish I had a teacher like her when I was in school.

Sounds like you have your plate full with all those precious children, Dalyn. What a whole new world you're opening up for them! It must be a somewhat tiring but exciting task to see them grow and learn...and to learn together as a family. What a blessing!

Hi QoQA!

We are in Washington too. It looks like you might be on the other side of Mt. Rainier. I was looking for something else 'Washington'
and you came up from there I found you moved to different blog areas. I tried to post there but I don't have a registered blog so cut/pasted it here instead.

My daughter wants a dwarf goat so I pulled her over to the screen to see your soaps and goats. Nice product line up. You are so busy! You and your little dog at the computer make a lovely scene; glad your son snapped the photo.

I volunteer coordinate the WA State Home School Blog
washingtonstate on homeschool blogger if you ever have something of a general home school nature you'd like posted on it.

Blessings on your thanksgiving!

Marie
