My turn! Skid & current reads

I have a date. And he and I are going canoeing and I am so excited! My boy’s have been twice in 2 weeks and while I am not complaining my S(3) and I have had a yummy picnic waiting for them both times. But I want a turn!! So I got a sitter. Yipeee!

Here’s a pic of the last trip down the river - celebrating J & Z birthday’s

I also wanted to introduce Skid.

Skid has been requested for 3 different birthday’s. He’s a huge hit. I wish I had him decorated with Skittles as I usually do in the rainbow fish pattern. But he doesn't travel well in heat - the skittles melt.

Isn’t he cute? Just a Rice Krispie treat squished into a fish pan.

Stacy asked about books -

I tend to have several books going at once. Here are the categories and current reads

* one on homeschooling or child raising - The Spiritual Power of a Mother by Michael Farris (HSLDA)

* one on health - I always’s have my nose in this book but especially right now because it is bug season - The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood (I’ll post an all natural mosquito repellant later. It works so good!!)

* one on bible/theology - Crunchy Cons by Rod Dreher - this is more christian living - it is entertaining & challenging & makes you think

* one fun read - I know that some people aren’t into Christian novels. And to be honest I never thought I would be either, but I have very much enjoyed several of Francine Rivers books. Currently I am listening to Redeeming Love on CD (borrowed from the library) while I run. This is such a great motivator to keep going because I have to see what happens next.

My last fun read was The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. I would describe it as a mans diary about winning his wifes heart back to him with a twist at the end. This isn’t labeled a christian novel - but it is clean.

I have really enjoyed these fun reads because it gives my mind a much needed break.

What's your latest read?

I think you are just down (or up?) the river from Lisa, my nerdy best friend :) They live on River Rd. and their property is on the river. Maybe you can get the kdis together for a picnic! OH- and they farm walnuts, too. Actually, they hire someone to farm them, but they get to live amongst them :)

That fish is adorable!

I'm going to have to steal that fun idea for some birthdays around here!
How was your date?! Fun that you get to go this time!...
Thank you for telling me what you're reading! I think I'm literally in the middle of about 7 books right now.
I am a big fan of most of Francine Rivers' books! Have you read her Mark of the Lion series? Oooh; those are good if you haven't read them yet! One of my favorite series.
Hope you had a wonderful day!

Kendra -
River Road is one long road with lots of walnuts - we live about 3 miles from the river in the north part of the city. We drive up to Night's Ferry about 30 minutes and put in there and pull out at Orange Bolssom. I'd love some new friends.

Stacy - I have only read about 3 of F. Rivers books. Per your recommendation I will forge my way into her other series. So what are you currently reading?

Yes! Forge your way into more of hers! My favorites:
The Mark of the Lion series
1 A Voice in the Wind
2 An Echo in the Darkness
3 As Sure as the Dawn
And then the other ones of hers that I like (next to Redeeming Love) are The Last Sin Eater, and The Shofar Blew. Her others are all enjoyable, I just like those the BEST!
I'm gonna post soon on all the other books I'm reading...
